I bought this metal detector for my Grandson's birthday gift. He was so excited and could hardly wait to try it out. The next day was the first chance he had to use it. He found it very easy to use it and easy to put together. Off he went, to look for treasures. Within a few hours he found some old square nails, a piece of a watch and then his big find.... he found gold in a piece of quartz rock. He took it to his Grandfather( Papa) who ownes a jewelry store. It was estimated to be worth around $2,000.00 in its natural form. He was so excited and has been back out looking for more. 9 year old saw box and was very excited. In about 1/2 hour it was up and ready to calibrate. So off we went to back yard. I planted a nickel and an aluminum nail. And covered with soil and leaves as was ground in yard. Misled grandson to a site about 20 ft off. He started his looking there but then said I tricked him. So he widenened his looking zone...about 15 minutes later he said he found the nickel. The nail took a little longer...tonight it's off to beach ..only issue is the waterproof claim. I believe that refers only to electronics...the metal shaft and push pins to change length of pole risk possibility of rust/corrosion.... But off to beach and will rinse and wipe dry of saltwater. Hope we find a trinket or two!!! ... show more

This is the first time I’ve ever owned a metal detector. I bought 2 as a after of fact. I wanted something that was good quality but not expensive and I got just that. This detector is easy enough for a beginner to quickly figure out and the display is easy to read (note: display is lit but since I wasn’t actively using it, there is nothing displayed on screen). Not sit of fancy buttons - just the basics which is all I wanted so I nor my spouse would feel overwhelmed with the functionality. The “arm rest” sleeve is a nice touch - makes this product much more easy to use and comfortable to maneuver for a long length of time. I got this metal detector as a gift for my husband. He is a techie mechanical guy so I thought he would be able to handle it and enjoy it. It’s great even for a beginner and non-techie person like me. We live on a wooden acreage which has some low spots. When the state digs out the roadside ditches they will give away the dirt to near by homes. Free dirt is great but of course there is often stuff in the dirt because people sometimes throw things from their cars. We have found some interesting things but by far was my grandsons’s find. It was a rusty metal jewelry box with a diamond ring in it! So now the competition is on! ... show more
