Style: pinpointer metal detector
I didn't want to spend over $100 for a pinpointer device. I am new to metal detecting and have only had 3 outings. The first 2 outings we didn't use a pinpointer. Although you can get by without this device by constantly cutting your digs in half and testing again with the main metal detector, this device really makes the experience better. We received this device before our 3 outing where my daughter and I used this. She was in charge of locating stuff within the dig with this device and she just loved it! It seems to have a range of around 1.5 to 2 inches through the dirt we were detecting in. It will beep whenever it detects metal and will increase the frequency of beeps the closer you get to the metal. Works really well for finding coins in the clump you dig after locating the target with the metal detector. Very simple to use, just turn it on and start poking around. The led light wasn't useful to us as it was daylight out but it doubles as an indicator if the unit is powered on. It seems fairly rugged and easily handled all the poking we did on the first outing, I have no doubt this will last a good while for us. Uses a single 9v battery. I would definitely recommend this device based on my experience.

I got this, put the included battery in correctly, and pushed the switch. The light came on and after a short pause the thing went off as if it was close to Fort Knox! Tried many times. Tried taking the battery it while it was on. Tried…everything. I was on the verge of returning it. My Amazon batteries that were due today were “running late” but I also received a metal detector for the beach today with 9V batteries. I tried one. Sure enough…works perfectly! I’m not sure if it’s waterproof or not but the seal on the battery seems good.

I usually don't give reviews. Another mans meat is another man's poison. However the DEWINNER METAL DETECTOR works. Works real good. Easy to operate, comes with belt holster, 9v battery, a stretch cord to attach to the wand. Instructions easy to operate. For my practical purposed, I didn't need the Detector that is waterproof. I had a piece of rebar in the ground for a property line marker. It was covered over by weeds. This unit picked it up right away. This wand can be used for other purposes as well. Just out of curiosity, a ran it over resin firearm case. The DEWINNER METAL DETECTOR, picked up the metal from the handgun immediately. Well worth the money....

Given as a gift to a 11 yo who absolutely loves it. The first day they disappeared outside for hours to check the entire yard for treasures. It's been a must have item when we go adventuring near water too. Light and easy to carry. Great product!

Style: pinpointer metal detector
I bought this to go with my Bounty Tracker IV metal detector as I am just getting into the hobby. I spent an afternoon with it, before returning it later that night. This pointer is absolutely terrible for a number of reasons. First, the pin pointer will not work unless you are literally on top of the target and within an inch or so which does little to help with "pinpointing" on where to dig. Second, it gave me false readings over 50% of the time I used it, to the point that I had to constantly turn it off and turn it back on to get it to work properly. Third, its battery life is exceptionally poor. A new 9V battery lasted less than 2 hours before I had to replace it. I can't speak to the water resistance because I didn't get it wet, but I can only imagine its as equally bad as all the other features. Choose a different brand, and if that doesn't work, spend the money on a Garrett.

My cat has a pension for eating strange things and I noticed that a piece of jewelry was missing from my dresser and I had seen him up there the night before. He was acting totally fine and I had no proof he had actually eaten the jewelry, but I couldn't shake the feeling, so I came up with the idea to order this little metal detector. It arrived quickly and I scanned his belly with it. Sure enough, when I had it right up against his belly, it started going off! I took him to the vet, the necklace was located still in his stomach, and they were able to get it out with a scope. Had I waited longer and had it moved into his intestines, he would have needed surgery. Instead he was home and sleeping it off that very same day. This metal detector is a gem and I'm so grateful it worked so well!
