  • Excellent Bike, great price with good features
(Magnetic version) solid built, easy to assemble, excellent customer service. According to them the flywheel is 35 lbs., very smooth, stable and silent ride. I can connect via Bluetooth to Merach app and MyWhoosh and indieVelo (have not tried others yet). For the current price, I'm totally satisfied. ... show more

  • Needs major improvements... Build quality, and actually seems dangerous.
*update* I contacted Merach about this issue. They told me they will have a team look into it. I don't know what they need to look into exactly but they do have a warranty on these bikes so I requested they honor that warranty, and exchange my defective unit for a new one. The next message from them, they told me "We understand your request, and we will forward it to our team for further review." so I guess they do not honor their warranty claims or at least they will review them on a case by case basis before they decide whether or not they want to honor it. They then asked if I happen to use the brake knob when the wheel stopped spinning. ---- I really wanted to like this exercise bike. I thought I could push through the problems and manage with it but after 2 weeks, and one major failure, I am just done with it. So, just to get anything positive out of the way, here are some of the pros. 1. It was easy to assemble. Honestly, the most difficult part about putting this thing together was the unboxing process which wasn't really difficult but really just annoying because it was so well packed. 2. I'm 6' tall, and I was able to easily find a suitable seat/handle height for my size. 3. They offer a free app. I didn't use it very much but I did test it out, and it seemed like a decent app for a beginner. There were definitely some downsides to it, like some questionable tracking and not being able to connect my HR monitor, which is exactly why I ended up using another app. Those things, though, can eventually be fixed with a software update so it's not the biggest deal to me. As long as they continue to service the app, it should be fixed in time. 4. The bluetooth connects to my other apps, and those apps do pick up the power, cadence, etc. (more on that below) and they show the same measurements that the bike shows. If I see 150 watts on the bike, that's what I am seeing in Zwift. Now everything else... The speed, distance, calories, power (watts), cadence (RPM)... It's all worthless. The only accurate measurement which you can trust is the timer. I'm not sure why they even include any of it other than to use it as some sort of marketing ploy. I guess the rotations per minute, that may be accurate, but it's still worthless without an accurate measurement of power. You can manually adjust the resistance with the knob on the bike but there is no way to tell what level of resistance you're currently set to other than your own perceived effort. Let's say that I find 6/10 resistance to be a good level for any particular part of my cycling.. how do I get back to this level when I want to lower or raise it for a moment? I don't. I have to guess based on the previous effort. If you're a novice rider with little to no experience, this can be very difficult. Even for a seasoned vet, it's not easy but more doable. The pedals and seat.. I'm not sure how long I would use them. The pedals are not the worst, and I would replace it after the seat but both would eventually be replaced. The seat, it's pretty uncomfortable but I was not surprised by that. Honestly, I expected it... You can spend another 20-40 to replace it with something much more comfortable. The build quality, it seems to be lacking. The bike, although it seems to fit me very well, does not feel incredibly stable. It's not falling apart but it felt so unstable on even my first ride, I had to go through everything and make sure it was all tightened down and properly put together. Checked and double checked, didn't matter, still unstable. As mentioned, I am about 6' and about 165lb, clearly I am not the biggest guy in the world, but I can feel this thing wobble even with only a moderate effort. Standing up to pedal is all but out of the question. If you're anywhere near their advertised maximum weight threshold for this machine, or much taller than I am... I'm not sure how confident you'll be in it. if I am being honest, and I am just giving them the benefit of the doubt based on other reviews, I feel like I received a lemon somehow because it's that wobbly for seemingly no reason. This is a new problem that only just started and it will be the reason I just stop using this bike. After two weeks of riding, 3-5 times a week for about 30-45 minutes each ride, now when I put any meaningful amount of weight on the left handlebar, it seems to engage the brake which then adds resistance and really throws me off. It's actually dangerous. What if it were to fully engage the brake without me expecting it? That would be very bad and that is exactly why I am done with the bike. I could have lived with the quirks, big and small, but I am not going to put myself in danger. Not being able to calculate power, distance, calories burned, etc? I don't care that much. I can still pedal and that's what really matters at the end of the day. I can, and do, use other apps to get the most out of my workout. Bad pedals and seat? I can eventually replace those things. ... show more

  • 2 problems
1. the digital read out is only good for time, the rest of the readings are almost useless as they are far off. 2. Had to turn handle bars around so i could ride and not destroy my back, otherwise i was sitting at a 90 degree angle. Other than that its great only b/c i got it at a time when it was 45% off with a $40 coupon. ... show more

  • Mechanically its OK, but for the price and phone problems I would not recommend it.
This reflect my initial impression after putting it together and riding today. If anything major changes I'll come back and update my review. Over the past few months I have dramatically increased the amount of exercise I do weekly. I purchased a trainer stand for my hybrid bike earlier this year but go tired of swapping out the tire for a training tire, plus it took up a lot of room in the house. So I decided to get an exercise bike to put inside so my bike would be ready to ride outside. I looked at a bunch of different options, but with the coupon this seemed like the one to get, however it is pretty disappointing. I rode my other bike in front of the TV to keep me entertained, so that is where I set this up at. I also wanted the app capability though so I could follow training or log my activity. One of the main reasons I went with MERACH was because I wouldn't need to subscribe to another app. Some of the issues could possibly be fixed with firmware/software updates, others I'm not so sure about. #1. The display on the bike shows watts as you are riding. Adjusting speed or resistance will affect this watt counter in a fairly predictable way. The app also shows watts, however I have no idea how it is calculating that. I'm not even sure if the watts on the bike is correctly. Riding along at ~150 watts per the bike was showing around 39-41 watts on the app. Increasing the resistance showed on the bike as increasing to over 250 watts, while the app floated around 39-41 watts the entire time. I'm sure this could be fixed with software/firmware updates. #2: On some of the trainings the app will show a recommended resistance setting as you go through the activity. This is great, but the current resistance level in the app only shows as --- and there is no way to know what you are at on the bike. When you finish a free training it will show a chart of the resistance levels you were at over the course of the activity, which seemed to track with me playing around with the dial. What good does it do you to see the level when you are finished if you don't know what you are at for sure while riding? I'm sure this could be fixed with software/firmware updates. I fully understood that this bike would not automatically adjust the resistance like more expensive bikes, but I didn't think there wouldn't be a way to set the resistance consistently. #3: No way to identify current resistance level on the bike. I'm not sure that this can be fixed with firmware updates. This wouldn't be that important if the app or display showed the current resistance level. #4: The app has features for daily goals for calories, duration and distance. I rode for 30 minutes today but it shows 0.0 Calories, 0 minutes and 0.00 distance. Scrolling down shows daily charts and does show that I have calories, duration and distance completed today. It also shows that I rode 4 different times, which is probably true if you count the very short test rides. So in the main section of the app it says I did nothing towards my goal today, in the other section it shows that I did something towards the goal. This seems like a software bug that could be fixed. #5: While the app tracks totals, and displays some pretty charts of cadence, resistance, etc. after you complete an activity, there does not appear to be any way to look at past activities. I want to be able to look back and see if I've been improving. This could be fixed with software. #6: No integration with HR monitor in the app. I use a heartrate monitor while I'm exercising but there is no way to connect that to the app (at least that I have found). If I want to follow one of the few workout activities on the app, I can't see my HR at the same time. I can run other app and switch back and forth, but that is not how this should work. This should be fixable with software updates also. #7: The pedals are terrible and will need to be replaced. #8: The seat is terrible and will need to be replaced. #9: This one is a bit more subjective, but I feel like the seat does not travel far enough forward for me. Some of this may just be because of the difference from the bike I am used to riding. Adjustments are fairly easy to make, I just wish the seat moved a little further forward or the handlebars could move forward and backward. Almost all of my complaints could be fixed with software or firmware updates and I would bump this up to 4.5 stars. So here are the things I do like about it so far. #1: It runs silent, at least on day one. The only noise I was hearing was my shoe scraping. This does take a little getting used to vs riding my normal bike on a trainer. This was one of the reasons I went for magnetic resistance, and I like how silent it is...no need to turn the TV up anymore. #2: It feels stable and well built for the price. #3: More compact than having my bike on a training stand. It isn't to heavy and with the wheels is fairly easy to move around. (Update 1): Day two and it will no longer connect to my phone. I tried pulling the batteries out, un-pairing from Bluetooth, clearing app cache and data, rebooting phone, and uninstalling and re-installing the app. It sees it every time but just gets stuck on "binding" in the app. (Update 2): I've been riding daily for just over a week now and things aren't any better. Sometimes Bluetooth does reconnect to my phone, but over half of the time it doesn't. I did find that you can view the details of past workouts, those are saved in the app (when it is able to connect). I've mostly given up on the phone connection function as it takes to much time to keep retrying. I replaced the pedals with some that I had removed from my mountain bike and they are much better than the stock pedals. There is no way to identify the resistance level, or set it with any consistency. If you want to change significantly it does take quite a few turns of the dial. I love to tinker, so I am probably going to design something to connect a stepper motor to the resistance dial to give myself buttons for rapidly, and automatically changing the resistance, that might be a fun little project :-) (Update 3) I've been using the bike daily since it arrived and have basically given up on any of the app features. It almost never connects to my phone, and has never been connected to any other phone. On top of that it is now significantly cheaper than when I purchased it less than a month ago while it was on a limited time deal. I'll be trying to figure out how to return it and get something else. ... show more

  • Great Magnetic Bike
So, I have been looking for a spin bike for a while. Got the Merach bike almost a month ago. The bike comes almost fully assembled. No sweat at all. So, I have been using the bike for a little over 2 months now. I use it daily. It's an awesome workout. It really pushes me. The Bike is whisper quiet and thanks to the two front tires, very easy to move from one place to another. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a great spin bike, with magnetic resistance, at an affordable price, look no further. ... show more
