I gave this a try, to see how it compared to Redken Brews styling paste. The Redken is $22 for 5 fl ounces. This is $9 for 3.3 fl ounces. So you get a bit less, but at less than half the price, it's a better value. The scent of this product is kind of odd. Maybe medicine or ointment like... not sure. I don't love it. But I put it on 3 hours ago, and I probably stopped noticing the scent within 5 minutes or less of application. The hold is definitely superior to the Redken product. I prefer a firm hold, and this delivers. So if you ignore the odd scent, and prefer a firmer hold, this is a better value than Redken Brews. ... show more

My husband has used this gel for many years. It doesn’t cause white flakes like some gels do. It has a pleasant smell. If you want a firm hold this gel is excellent. My husband puts it on wet hair and it leaves a wet look all day.

I have wavy short hair that can become a bit frizzy and unruly. I like this product because applying the right amount after bathing makes my hair much more manageable without being stiff and overly shiny. For me, a very small amount is desirable. My first time using this cream left my hair a little plastered. I've since learned to apply much less for a natural shine and controlled look without having the obvious "hair product" result.
