  • Awesome deal on a great instrument
Color: Mint Green
This bass is a total bargain, coming in right at $130.⁰⁰ which includes literally everything you need to get started out of the box! It comes with an amp & cable, a gig bag, strap, a tuner, a pick and hex keys for the truss rod and the saddles. On top of that, it really sounds good, and it has both a P Pickup in the neck position and a J Pickup in the bridge position for a wide range of sounds, and the Jaguar body has a nice finish, and is full size 34 inch scale. 10/10 for an amazing deal on a very nice bass with a smooth rosewood fretboard that plays well , especially when you tweak the setup to your liking. ... show more

  • Really great Bass find!
Color: Mint Green
So I was looking for a starter bass for my son who is playing in the school rock band, and this seemed like an interesting option. I have a decent collection of guitars and a couple of basses including a nice Fender, but I wanted something that was something just for him that he could take around to practice and not worry about damaging it. It turns out this was a great find for the money. It has a nice tone and sound, with great clear mid-tones and almost a Horner sound to it - great for rock bass. The action was decent straight out of the box and I just needed to make some small adjustments to avoid any string rattle. The neck/fret size is on the slightly more compact size which is good for a young teen, but it works for me too as a full-grown adult. The quality looks quite good overall - and although in retrospect my son would have preferred the black color, the green is growing on him since it is kind of funky and stands out. It would be nice if they offered a few more color options. The shape has a Jaguar look to it, but without being a direct copy which is nice. I have played it several times and frankly, I prefer it to my much more expensive Fender Jazzmaster bass, which is saying something for something so inexpensively priced! To add to the value, the little amp works just find for a bedroom practice amp and frees up his guitar amp for someone else if he wants to jam. I was not expecting much from the amp for sure, but it works just fine. I would highly recommend this for someone starting their journey as a bass guitarist, especially in the rock genre. ... show more

  • Good for its price...
Color: Black
This bass guitar is decent for the price, with a solid tone and a sturdy build that makes it fine for casual practice or jamming. However, it has a few frustrating flaws that hold it back. The headstock is noticeably heavy, making the whole instrument feel top-heavy and causing neck dive, which means you’ll constantly be supporting the neck instead of focusing on your playing. Even more annoying is the fret buzz around the first few frets—despite adjusting the truss rod, the buzzing doesn’t go away, suggesting some uneven frets or deeper setup issues. While it has potential and might work well after some professional adjustments, it’s not the most plug-and-play friendly option out of the box. Not good for beginners. ... show more

  • Great Product
Color: Black
Guitar arrived in great condition. Box wasn't damaged at all which was a surprise. So unboxed the bass for inspection. Right out of the box it looks fantastic. It came with the normal small stuff. Cord, allen wrenchs and strap. One thing I had to do and discovered while tuning is on the #2 sting it wouldn't stay in the nut. Not a big deal but if you don't have the tools to fix this it can't be played or tuned. So with a bit of filing (fixed) that problem. It tuned up nicely. Frets are nice and neck is straight. With a little adjustment to the bridge this bass is up and running. The wife loves it so all is well in world woohoo. I own a few Glarry products and like them very much with no problems. Im sure at some time I will have to change the strings but for the money this bass is great. The amp is a good looking amp but is a bit under powered. Still no problem it can be used for something else. Hook it up to 100w fender and blow the roof off. All in all great job Glarry we love it. ... show more

  • Very Impressed With This Bass!
Color: Black
Some of the previous reviews had me a little worried, but for the price I thought I'd take a chance. Glad I did! The instrument arrived in perfect condition (though the box had some pretty bad dings). It arrived a day ahead of schedule and is a beautiful instrument. I have been wanting to learn to play the guitar and I figured the 4-string would be a great way to start and this one seemed like a bargain. The practice amp works fine, but the clip-on tuner is very slow to pick up on the pitch of the E-string so a little patience is required here. If you are a beginner, like me, do a search on Youtube and you can find most anything you need to get your bass set up and playing in no time! I'm a 63 year old beginner and so far I am very happy with my purchase. Seems pretty high quality to me, but time will tell. Hope this was helpful. ... show more

  • Very nice bass but has some issues
Color: Black
So, the first thing to state is that for the money this is a very good-looking and solidly constructed bass. Good neck, good frets. But straight out of the box there are some issues that need to be dealt with before it is playable. Firstly, the string height is all over the place. Adjusting the height of the saddles on the bridge is not difficult, but without this adjustment the low E was unplayable. After adjustment it was fine. So, here's the good news. The P-style pickup is great, it reminds me of the old Matsumoko basses such as Westone or Aria from the late 70s and early 80s, and is a very good stab at the classic P-bass sound. For me, this was the reason I bought this bass, and I am happy with the sound. However, the J-style pickup has a serious ground noise issue, and is in fact completely unusable. It will need to be competently re-wired, probably a job for a multi-meter and a soldering iron at the very least, if not a complete replacement, which is a shame because aside from the buzz the tone of the pickup sounds pretty good. But there is no way to work around the noise in all seriousness. The package also contains a cheap cable and cheap strap, neither of which will ever get used. There is also a tuner that needs a battery, a guitar bag that would protect the instrument from a sneezy cat, Allen keys for the truss rod and saddles (which you are going to need, so top marks for including those Glarry) and also a practice amp, which is nicely compact, feature-packed but entirely useless for a bass as it has zero bass, it sounds like a small mono transistor radio from the 70s, and might be useful as a music system in the baby's room, but it will never find any use as a bass amp. Besides, anyone who does decide to use it with this guitar will be doing the instrument no favours whatsoever, as the bass actually sounds pretty good on the P-style pickup on every other amp we tried it on. The only amp that let it down was the one included with it. Glarry should just ditch that and knock $20 off the price. I am certain that once we fix the out-of-the-box problems we will have a very good bass here. ... show more

  • Enjoyable budget bass with fine tone
Color: Mint Green
This is my third instrument from Glarry, 2nd bass + 1 guitar, and for inexpensive instruments, they are surprisingly solid. Understand that they need set-up and quality control may vary (e.g. the guitar needed a lot of work but is now playable), and you can find yourself a fantastic beginner's instrument or modification platform. Good stuff: the frets are filed really nicely, no sharp edges at all. In fact, maybe the best factory fretwork of the 6 guitars i own, including more expensive "name brands". Pickups (split P-style and single coil J style) provide nice volume and tone. Tuners feel sturdy and hold tune well. Nut slots cut well, saddle functional,so it intonates without issue. Love the color, nice fiish, and body style resembles a Jaguar and a Talman, which both retail for $150+ more! Areas for adjustment: action was high, so needed to adjust truss rod and saddles. Some rough spots on neck. Nut edges a little ragged. The 19th fret is a little high, so you get some buzz unless the action is set higher or fret leveled. But that's practically at the end of the fretboard and not a huge problem. It is a light body and thick neck, so there's some neckdive. It wasn;t terrible even using the provided poly strap, but noticeable. A thicker, cloth or leather-backed strap largely solves the dive. Your particular bass may not have any of these minor issues. Or it could have more. You kind of roll the dice at this price point. Set expectations accordingly...it's not junk (and if it is, Glarry's customer service is very helpful), it's not a $1000 instrument. But it is fully playable, and has a great style that inspires, whether as a beginner or someone willing to make upgrades. Plus: working digital tuner and a basic 20W amp which is adequate for home practicing. (Strap and bag are thin poly junk, but whatever!) ... show more
