  • Nice basic grill that cooks quite well, holds up well
Style: 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill w/ Side Shelv... Size: 6-Burner Color: Black/Red
I'm writing this review more of the manufacturer and support than of the item itself; I've just finished assembling it an have not cooked on it yet to be able to give feedback on the grill itself. I can say that the assembly takes a little while; I'm mechanically inclined and it was still over an hour. Once assembled, it's fairly sturdy, though certainly not dead solid feeling as with the grills that cost 10 times as much. For the price, I'd say it has decnt build quality, and for those who said holes didn't line up, I'd recommend installing all fasteners loosely in each step, making sure all align (it'll take some wiggling of parts sometimes) THEN tightening the fasteners. When I did that, I had no trouble getting things to align. My grill arrived with a bit of a beat up box; the manufacturer seems to ship those in the same boxes they would if they were going to the local big box store. That could be improved on, many Amazon sellers have figured out the shippers are gonna be rough, especially on the stuff that is overweight but forced on them by the deal they made to get Amazons business. These guys could benefit from a bit more protection in the box, even if they had to redesign packaging for Amazon sales. The main reason for this review is to give kudos to not only Amazon, but also to the manufacturer's parts service company. One of my cooking grids arrived broken, and a couple sheet metal parts were lightly dented. I probably should have stopped, and let Amazon send a replacement at that point, but I went ahead and assembled it, figuring I'd get the grid replaced. (I didn't care about the minor dents, I use my grill heavily, and they never stay beautiful for long) Amazon would have been happy to ship me a whole new grill and eat shipping on it and the return... but that seemed silly to me. I said I'd reach out to the manufacturer to get just the grid replaced....and the Amazon rep assured me that if there were charges for that, Amazon would refund me! So I called the number for parts from my owners manual, got a very helpful person on the phone at support, and within minutes he had a replacement part on its way to me under warranty, in exchange for a quick email to prove I'd bought the grill within 60 days. So... both Amazon and Nexgrill (parent company of Megamaster) take great care of their customers, and from the other reviews here, I look forward to a grill that should do a great job cooking my food evenly and with plenty heat and shelf space - this really is a LARGE grill - without costing what the shiny ones do, and reportedly, cooking more evenly at the same time. In a couple years, I'll know how well it lasted compared to my last one... a shiny big name brand that cost more than 5 times as much, and lasted only 2 or 3 years before parts started rusting away... like "stainless" burners. Sure I expect this one will show wear due to not being stainless exterior... but, I've grown tired of grills that look beautiful for 10 years after they quit working. ( Am I the only one that wonders why big bucks grills can stay pretty on the outside for 15 years with no real TLC, but the guts die in a couple years?) Update, 11 months use. So had it a while, used it a lot. I keep it under a porch roof, roll it out to where there is clear sky above when I cook, don't put a cover on it. If I forget and leave it in the rain, the inside gets wet, washes greasy stuff into the grease pan, and overflows it, making a mess underneath. ... it's big (plenty big enough for a dozen steaks, or 30 burgers), has plenty of heat, and heat is quite well distributed even compared to even far more expensive brands. The burners themselves are holding up very well after a year with no apparent rust or changes in the size of the flame holes (meaning still as even heat as when new). The lid, frame, and shelves are painted, not SS, and are doing better than I would have expected. There is some rust on the flame spreaders, and a good bit on the catch pan. However, those parts are actually removable, and could be replaced when needed... or someone more diligent than I could clean them more regularly. Grease is corrosive... I'd say overall, it's a great grill for the price, and I suspect, over a twenty year period, buying a couple of these will give me a much better overall grilling experience at less than a quarter the cost of big name more expensive models... especially as the burner life of my Weber Platinum SS, which cost WAY more than this, was less than 10 years. ... show more

  • A good grill with some minor flaws.
Style: 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill w/ Side Shelv... Size: 6-Burner Color: Black/Red
The grill works great overall. I have been using it for about 3 months now and cooking on it 2-3 times a week. The down sides of this are the electric lighter some times only lights one or two of the burners. If using all 6 burners you might not realize one or two didn't light be until the food over those isn't cooking. When using just 2 or 3 burners it is easier to notice if one didn't light since you can hear the food sizzle as it hits the grill. When using all 6 burners food takes longer to cook than using 2-3. So if having a large party be ready to add extra cooking time to get it all done. Make sure to clean the Heat plate / shields. If grease and fat dry on them they can catch fire and then you will end up with burnt burgers. This seems more of a general maintenance thing but I don't recall this being an issue on other grills. However I have been cooking with charcoal for the last 5 years and may not be remembering correctly. This isn't a heavy duty construction but you are looking at the wrong price range if you are expecting a thicker heavier metal. I would recommend looking at the Weber Genesis 2 grills. However these start at $500 for a 2 burner so be ready to spend close to $1000 for a 5 burner. The grill overall is well designed. It has just the 1-1/2" to 2" gap for ventilation. Allowing the heat to properly cook. The top rack isn't attached to the lid. This is one of the main reasons I bought this over the well known brand names low end models. Nothing is more annoying than open the lid and it causes your hot dogs and brats to roll off onto the main grill area. The grill gets good and hot. It will easily hit 500 degrees. So there is no concern when cooking things like chicken or turkey. The grease catcher does a good job. I have yet to see it miss any and drip down the size. The nobs work well to hold your cooking utensils. This only has a 1 year warranty. Given how cheap this is I would recommend spending the 10-15 bucks on the 4 year amazon warranty. This will allow you to replace it easily if it doesn't hold up.I use a large char broil grill cover for this since they don't make there own. It is the one designed for a smoker attachment. I like the metal handle on this. Most grills use this now but the wood handle on my charcoal grill cracked where the screws go in cracked and tore out the wood and needed replaced. This has a good amount work space. It does show dirt so be prepared to clean it regularly out side of the standard prep table cleaning for food. Overall if you are looking for a grill that will cook properly, looks good and have a budget then go with this grill. If you are looking for heavy duty material with a long term warranty you will want to invest more and start your search with a Weber and go up from there. Just be prepared for a high price tag if you are going that route. It’s been about a year and the grill started up in the spring without issue. I tried it once in the winter without luck. If you cook with an open garage door it might be ok for cold weather cookouts but it didn’t hold heat well enough to properly cook. I suspect this has more to do with the size of the grill than the the burners. I could get the face down side to cook but the top side wouldn’t cook at all. If you have a domed lid that is grill safe it would probably still cook normally. Unfortunately I did not so the outside was cooking but the middle wasn’t getting hot enough. I ended up moving the food to the oven to fully cook it. Otherwise this has worked well and I might try there small camping grill this year. ... show more

  • Appears to Be A Very Good Value...
Style: 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill w/ Side Shelv... Size: 6-Burner Color: Black/Red
Haven't used yet, just assembled. Will update review in a couple of weeks when I use. Was delivered on time, in good shape with all parts intact. Assembly was fairly easy (took me 4 hours by myself taking my time), but the instructions were all images (no text) and a couple of the steps were a little difficult to understand, as the images were not very clear on what to do. Nevertheless, most people will figure it out and move on. Not as sturdy as a more expensive grill, but for the money, it's not bad. This grill looks great! I can see it will be easy to clean and maintain. At this point, if it cooks evenly with good heat distribution, and can sear at a high enough temperature, it's a total win. I'll be back to review the performance later. ... show more
