This is a replacement light for our aquarium. We had the same light before but water had gotten in to the end where the timer is. Same great light, same great performance! Set the time and let it go!

We have six of these on five tanks: 1x48-inch on a 5-foot 120gal, 2x36-inch on a 6-foot 125gal, 1x24-inch on a 29gal, 1x24-inch on one side of a 90-gal, and an 1x18-inch on a 10-gal. They are expensive, but we've just grown to like the built-in timer feature and the simplicity; blue and/or white light; on or off. It is true that if the power goes out, the clock and timer settings reset to default, which is a minor pain. We have many power interruptions, so I've gotten used to changing the settings back to what we like quickly... at least it's easy to adjust. I do wish there was a built-in battery backup for the timer - it would make this a 5-star light. These are very heavy duty lights with thick and strong aluminum extruded bodies and LED's that each have their own, individual lens. They are very bright and can reach down to the bottom of a 26-inch deep tank easily. So far, no planted tanks, but I just put a few plants in the 29-gal, so I'll see how that works out. Instead of a power brick like another brand of light I use, this has a small wall wart. It is too wide to plug more than one light in side by side on a power strip, but not so wide as to block the adjacent outlet for use with a regular plug. The cord is plenty long. It's probably easy to buy a bad light for a good price on amazon or in a store. With few exceptions, I've stopped wondering what light to get and just pick up whatever size Marineland Advanced I need when it's time for a new light. ... show more

    • Super bright but timer is a pain

These are really bright lights, but I wish I could dismantle the timer. Every time the power goes out I have to reset 5 timer options - the clock, ON white lights, OFF white lights, ON blue lights, and OFF blue lights. After a series of thunderstorms, I had to reset all these 3 times in 2 days. I own 5 of them. I manually override the timer, but it resets itself with the next cycle. Takes me about 20 minutes to reset all of them each time. ... show more

I couldn't be happier with this. I love the digital timer and display. The 2 separate blue and white modes are great and the price is as well. There are other products out there that do far more. I don't want a toy, just good lighting for my 36g bow front with Cichlids. I really like the shimmer effect (that's possible because of the additional power head I have pointed toward the surface causing distortion at the surface). The only draw back is that the light is more intense than the T8 full spectrum that I had on there previously so this gets the algae growing faster. But that's part of the hobby to do maintenance and keep it clean. I read that some people said they barely got any water on it and it died. Well it clearly says not to do that...so don't. I've managed to do so every time I clean the tank and feed my fish. Just saying. ... show more

Lights the tank very well. The built in timer is very usefull. My only dislike is if you loose power then the timer looses its memory and you have to reprogram it. I would like it if you can disable the timer and use it mannually. I would also like it if the timer is upgraded to use flash memory so you dont have to reprogram it after a power loss or a lithium button battery to protect settings that is user replaceable and again would not require it to be reprogammed after a power loss. ... show more

Nice replacement for old florescent lights. Adjustable, lower power consumption. They light the tank well and I appreciate the low profile. Still trying to figure out how much I like the timer. Our rural power tends to drop out for a few seconds every now and then - leaving me having to reset the timers. Sigh. A battery backup for the settings would be nice. ... show more

This light is awesome. Replaced 4 VHO Flourescent tubes with this LED STRIP. The tank has never looked better, the fish seems to enjoy it what more can I say. Love the light from this strip and the ability to change the timing of the Blue and White LED's. Also appreciate the hugh energy savings from this strip and the almost lack of heat. The VHO Tubes got really hot and used a tremendous amount of electricity. Best purchase in a long time. ... show more
