so before I say what I like/dislike, first and foremost the why: The reason I was looking at any home gym to begin with is because I'm in my mid 30's, 5'8" and an obese 230 lbs. Been looking for something simple to help me lose some weight and find the 170 pound frame I had in my 20's. Machine comes in 3 boxes: 1 for the actual exercise machine, and 2 for the weight stack. Boxes were packed with more than enough packing material, parts were free of damage and all accounted for. Directions I felt were very easy to follow, with the hardware coming in 3 clearly labeled packs, organized by which step of the instructions you were on. Does also come with the allen keys needed to assemble, you will need 2 adjustable wrenches for the nuts. Assembly overall took me about 4 hours, by myself, taking frequent breaks. Machine itself feels sturdy and well manufactured and as you can see, is compact enough to sit in my living room with there still being plenty of room to open my front door (though everyone parks out back and uses the back door) I just finished assembly earlier today so I can't speak on longevity of the machine. I can tell you, that testing the cables and doing a light workout, everything does feel very smooth. overall, simple enough to build, decent variety of exercises, it's a great little machine with a very decent price. ... show more

Took around 5 hours. This included having to dismantle half of it because I reversed a section of the base by accident. I’ve had a machine before that was sold in the 90s and this is way better quality. Almost gym quality. A few things that I ran into that you should be aware of are that it is ideally a two person job. I would say 95 percent of the build you can do on your own but you will need assistance with a few of the structural pillars. Maybe you can get away with not having help but it will be inconvenient. I have a few tools already so I used a rubber mallet and a socket wrench to make it go faster. You will need a 16 metric sized wrench. An adjustable wrench it recommends would work but for all the torquing you have to do is tedious. People mentioned that the bench press bars need to be padded. So I ordered a walking cane foam tubular pads for them. They are sized perfect for it. I’ll update this if it doesn’t work. I ordered two off the internet for 5 bucks apiece. Overall a great value and solid performance. The pulleys are almost perfectly aligned for continuous tension throughout a pull or press. ... show more

Update! All parts have been located - the seller was very responsive to my questions. Original: All the parts I received are very sturdy and the instructions in the booklet are really clear. None of the parts are numbered (except the nuts/bolts/washers, which come in handy sheets), which does make it slightly challenging, but overall it's organized pretty well. The package comes in three boxes - one with the machine itself, and two with the weights. The box with the weights is about six feet long and weighs upwards of 120lbs. The other two boxes are quite small, and weigh 75lbs each. This might possibly be useful to you as you figure out how to get the boxes where they need to go from wherever the delivery person drops them off. ... show more

Bought this equipment to replace a twenty-three year old WEIDER 8510 which had a broken weight-cable after years of use . Couldn't find any replacement cables, so the machine got replaced in it's entirety. Glad I did. The MARCY is better thought out and works great for me. Quality and attention to detail is very good.
