Works great so far. Bought it to monitor a house remotely that I am the executor of until I can get it sold. Just to clear up some information in the negative reviews: Yes, it requires a subscription. It uses 4G cellular. That's not free. You can pay monthly or buy a season or year in advance and save some money. Monthly = $14.95/mo; Seasonal = $11.95/mo (for 4 to 8 months); Annual paid in advance = $8.25/mo Why not wi-fi? Well when your power or internet goes out, so does your wi-fi. This device has 4G cellular and a battery backup so it works during internet and power outages. (Of course, yes 4G could go down in a hurricane, but you can't cover every scenario now can you!) (From the FAQ on their website): The sensor checks temperature, humidity and power readings every 10 seconds. If a reading exceeds your set thresholds, you’ll receive an instant notification. You can get notified by email, text or by their app. I like the text option. It's where I'm most likely to see the warnings right away. Live Viewing via their Website or App (Also from their FAQ): When you log in, readings refresh automatically, then update every 15 minutes while you’re active. The oldest data you will see on the web page or app will be 15 minutes old. For more frequent updates, you can purchase Instant Update bundles— $2 for 8 updates—to view the latest data anytime. I personally don't think "real time" is necessary if I have access to the latest reading from within 15 minutes. That's good enough for me. And again, if there is a temperature/humidity/power issue detected, you will still get notified immediately by text, etc. Minor cons: I wish the unit had rubber feet on the bottom. It is hard plastic and can slide off the counter easily. I will add rubber feet myself. You can also mount it to the wall using the holes on the back of the unit. Or use Velcro I suppose. They also sell a mounting bracket on their web site. And they provide the 3D printing plans for it (nice touch.) I initially had a problem getting a cellular signal until I moved the unit closer to a window. A rather normal issue with cellular service. Just noting it here. Amazon shipped me an opened, returned device, but apparently it was unused. That doesn't affect my review. That's Amazon's fault. Luckily the device worked fine, as I needed it ASAP. Overall though, very pleased with the device so far. If anything changes, I will update this review.

Great product. At first I was a bit disturbed that the reporting isn't done in livetime--but in practice it's no big matter at all. If one of the values (temperature, humidity, power status) does go out of your own pre-established range, you get an immediate call or text message informing you of the same. Wonderful and comforting device and system giving me lots of peace of mind. Get it! Update 3/16/2018: I am always a bit suspicious of reviewers who review a purchased product a week after buying it. So let me update my original reivew from about 6 months ago and say: I wouldn't change a word. This is a great product and over this very snowy and very cold winter up here in New York State it has given me enormous peace of mind, day in and day out, living far from my blessed country home in rural New York. Occasionally I get a call from the monitor to tell me that power is out (and it IS!) and then, usually, another call a few minutes later to inform me it has been restored. If power is out for any length of time, I can send someone over who is closer to my home to investigate. If you live in a climate where 'climate' is increasingly becoming an issue--this is a cheap and fantastic method of monitoring a remote location. Again--get it, get it, get it. This is pure genius, so simple in conception and execution. Everybody who has a residence subject to the vagaries of climate deserves this device in their home.

Have had for 3 years and has worked very well to notify us of a furnace outage and several power loss events. What is unique about this system/device is than it does not require a landline, WI-Fi, smartphone or internet connection. Through their service monitoring plan, the device connects to a local wireless carrier. Which one depends on your area. If you are in a remote location without cell phone coverage, it likely will not work. But other than that, it seems to work great and saves you money on services you may not need (like phone, internet, etc.) at the monitoring location. Your situation may be different if you have existing services but when looking for a system, I would start with identifying what you want to monitor. This system can 1.) monitor temperature with adjustable Hi/Lo limit settings 2.) power on/off at the site based on plug-in outlet location for device 3.) humidity 4.) ability to add remote moisture/water sensors 5.) has battery back-up 6.) alert notification in multiple ways - phone, text, e-mail, etc. and 7.) records data at each automatic reading for you to review and plot remotely.

This works just as described and it is great! This device is designed to alert you when the temperature or humidity goes out of your own set range. It is not designed to check status in real time at any given moment, however you CAN do that for $0.25 each time which is incredibly cheap. A subscription is required to use this device, and you can choose one month or one year or any monthly combination. I paid for the seasonal subscription, a four month period for winter in MI. Set your low threshold temperature higher if you want to be notified sooner that the temperature is decreasing. It cost $.25 per real time temperature check, not $2. The device checks temperature every 10 seconds and sends data to their server every hour for use in looking at your history chart later on. The data updates to your mobile/online dashboard every eight hours so you can see that. It definitely will alert you when the power goes out or the temperature or humidity exceeds your set thresholds.
