I get this product around once a month and sprinkle it thru the chicken coop for the girls to pick up. It’s important for them to eat because they don’t have teeth so it sits in their gizzard and helps them break down food. The size of the grit is perfect for the girls, the color is like grey rocks. Chickens like it as much as any other grit. I didn't notice any changes in them with using this product versus the grit without probiotics. But I wasn't having any problems.
