Description

Lie Locks Lie Locks is a cool, medium indigo purple-y blue hair dye. Lie Locks can add indigo hues to virgin, unbleached hair. For best results, we recommend lightening hair to a very light level 9 blonde and toning hair before use to prevent unwanted hues. 1. Wash hair with a deep cleansing/clarifying shampoo. Do not condition. 2. Dry hair with a blow dryer to make sure the hair is extremely porous. 3. Put on gloves and apply Manic Panic Hair Color using a tint brush making sure hair is thoroughly saturated. 4. Comb through the hair color to make sure it is evenly applied. The cream may become slightly frothy. 5. Cover hair with a plastic cap and leave on for 30-45 minutes. For more intensity, add heat. 6. Rinse with cool water away from your face and body until water runs clear. Do not shampoo. 7. Style as desired. To prevent color transfer or bleeding, always make sure your hair is completely dry. Pro Tip: Use a hair dryer to evenly apply heat for 5-10 minutes of your processing time. This will help to open up the cuticle and allow the Manic Panic hair color to better penetrate the hair strand. Make sure to allow the hair to cool completely before rinsing out color.

I have been using Manic Panic for a few years. I used to go to the salon every six weeks or so when I had I natural hair color (almost black) which worked just fine. However, once I decided to go to a bright, vibrant color, I quickly knew that I would need to go more often and price wise, it just want sustainable. Shortly after going to red, my hair began to break off. I'll admit, I had no idea what to expect or how quickly to lighten, but figured my hair stylist did. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but within a few months my hair started to break off. Too much bleach. I went from waist length black hair to a bob that was just above my shoulders within a year. I was devastated. Since then, I vowed that if ANYONE was going to mess up my hair it would be me. I still have to bleach my hair since my natural color is just a bit above black, but I only do it every two or three months, and only hit the roots rather than my whole head. Then for the hair dye. I was worried about dying my hair as often as I would need to keep the vibrant color up, especially since I've got naturally oily hair and can really only afford to go two days without shampooing -even with dry shampoo. I didn't want to continue to damage my already fried locks, but I also didn't really want to give up my red hair. After some research, I found Manic Panic and have been in love ever since. YES, the color fades fast, but it is really up to you. If you wash daily or if you don't use a color safe shampoo, it will fade super fast. The thing that I LOVE about Manic Panic is that it doesn't seem to do any damage to my hair. Even with dying every few weeks, my hair is healthy and actually growing again. It's now down to the middle of my back again and is just as soft and beautiful as before I ever started dying it. I do have a few tips for anyone planning on using this product. 1. You need to lighten your hair to use it. It will work on dark hair, but you're not going to get the vibrant color you want. P A C E yourself with the lightening. It takes time and it will be worth it. Some colors also require lighter hair. Once again, pace yourself. You'll get there. I usually choose a darker color of what I want (vampire red vs wildfire) and go with that a few times. Once my hair is light enough and retains the red base color then I'll start going for my lighter shades. 2. Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner. This is imperative. Get something for color treated hair. Preferably without parabens, sulfates, etc. I use "Not Your Mother's". It's inexpensive and gives me the best results. 3. Train your hair. Learn to wash less often. We're on quarantine so now is your chance to train your hair. 4. Dry shampoo! I can't stress this enough. Not Your Mother's makes a really good spray powder dry shampoo. I've tried a few others and some leave my hair feeling sticky while others make my hair look dull and powdery. "Plump for Joy" is my go to. 5. The longer you have the color, the longer it seems to last. For example, I had red for over a year and decided to transition to turquoise. After dying a few times my hair held the color much better. 6. If you need to use heat on your hair use a heat shield. It's best if you can avoid heat as much as possible. ... show more

This also acts as a great blonde toner! I've been wanting silvery grey hair for years now and every hair stylist told me that it was impossible because my hair is so dark. Well, finally, I have gotten what I wanted, sort of by accident. I dyed my hair to a pale yellow using Beyond The Zone radical bleach kit (left it on for 90 minutes and my hair didn't fall out), then I conditioned and dried it. Then I mixed about a teaspoon of lie locks with about a cup and a half of conditioner (which made the mixture a lovely pastel blue based purple). I left it on over night, and then left a deep conditioner in my hair for an hour after rinsing it out, and then rinsed that out. The color came out exactly how I had mixed it and my hair felt so soft! I dyed it 3 weeks ago and my hair is still purple( I wash it 3-4 times a week)! It's just a silvery purple, and I love it! Now I'm contemplating dying my whole head this color, it's so lovely. ... show more

Gorgeous dark purple; although under certain lights it does look dark blue - but that is okay, because I love blue as well. Easy to apply, easy to maintain. As it fades, it goes a nice lavender color. I've found that as long as I rinse well after applying, it does not cast off on stuff the way others have mentioned (other than my towel, but I use a purple towel so I don't care about that). When applying it, if I get careless and get some on my skin, I discovered that my facial cleansing clothes work great to easily remove it before it can stain. I'll definitely look at the other color options from Manic Panic if I get bored with the purple. ... show more

LOVE manic panic. My favorite thing about MP is that it's vegan. It's not corrosive like most hair dyes. Therefore, I personally leave it in for hours(like at least 4) to let the color REALLY saturate. To me, this results in best color pop and it to not wash out so easily. If you wash your hair daily, you won't like MP. If you, like me, wash less often, like once a week, this color will last at least a month. My experience has been manic panic washes out within a matter of 6-8 washes, but purple loses it's umph faster. Similar to teal. In my experience, pinks and blues from Manic Panic have way more lasting power. ... show more

I used manic panic back when it was only a NYC thing. 25 years later idk what happened.... doing my daughter's bleached hair , it only shoes on the parts that platinum, fhe regular bleach blond parts and the dull parts got no color at all. It looks brown. The front I blended with blond to give a layerd lilac/purple look. Under cut was mega bleached so that was perfect, the center was disappointing. I have to do it again now with a different brand. Some parts are amazing, But my issue is that mostly the center is still brownish. ... show more

Manic Panic Lie Locks is a really cool vivid purple color. In the jar it looks like a deep ultravoilet color. On the hair it's just a shade lighter. My 13 year old daughter wanted her hair done with a few fun colors. At first I had extensions put in, but they didn't hold. So I turned to Manic Panic. The brand I and all my friends used in the 90's. I picked up a box of Manic Panic Flash Lightning Hair Bleach Kit 40 Volume, some Soft 'N Style Translucent Brushs , and a few colors of Manic Panic, including this Lie Locks color. After bleaching the area of her hair she wanted colored, I then applied the 3 Manic Panic shades. Lie Locks is such a great deep and bold purple color and the color took to the bleached hair well. It looks really good along side the Atomic Turquoise and Mystic Heather colors we also used. It made for a kind of mermaid color pallet. Manic panic is a brand I generally really like because they make quality products for a reasonable price. I bought this semi-permanent dye to help my hair stay brass-free (it's half a shade away from white). I take a small glob of the dye and mix it in with a generous amount of my regular conditioner to fully saturate my hair, then let it sit for 5-6 minutes before washing it out. It gets rid of any brass in one wash, so I only use it about once a week. It does like to stain skin though, so if you get any of it on your skin before it's mixed with the conditioner you should wash it off immediately. It says on the packaging to use petroleum jelly around your hairline and scalp area to keep it from staining the skin, which I will definetly do if I ever decide to dye my hair fully. ... show more
