Description

The 36V (18V X2) LXT® Brushless 10” Telescoping Pole Saw (XAU02ZB) is a welcome solution for a range of trimming and cutting applications. With zero emissions, lower noise and maximum versatility, the pole saw delivers maximum performance and run time without the hassles of gas and without leaving the 18V LXT battery platform. The pole saw’s telescoping shaft easily adjusts from 9 ft. to 13 ft. in length for efficient pruning of branches. The brushless motor delivers power of a 30cc gas pole saw to handle commercial-duty applications. The XAU02ZB also offers a 20% faster cutting speed than a 31.4cc gas engine pole saw. Torque boost mode helps power through thick or hard branches. The pole saw can make up to 140 cuts in 4x4 cedar with two 18V LXT 5.0Ah Batteries. Other features include a branch hook, translucent bar oil tank with large opening, and Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool, engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries. Makita® 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. The Makita XAU02ZB works very well. I am able to cut limbs that are very difficult to reach. The saw has plenty of power. I used it almost continuously for an hour and the batteries did not even drain 1 bar. I did not need the harness that was supplied when using the saw. The saw is high quality. I already have many Mikita 19 volt XLT tools so I don't need batteries or a charger. The saw does come with the chain. The chain comes in a small bag so be careful when unpacking the saw and all the assessories. It's a Husqvarna chain. Assembly is not hard but not easy either. ... show more

    • Extended length and plenty of power
Very happy with this product so far after multiple usages. Excellent length and I’ve had no problem cutting through decent sized limbs. Overall easy to oil, use, and clean. The battery life has lasted with a single set for the 3 jobs I’ve done. Note - this tool is heavy especially when the batteries are loaded! You’ll get a workout and I highly recommend using the harness whe possible ... show more

Bought this to replace an old Echo gas pole saw that seize up. This thing is much easier to handle and the balance is better. It also cuts better than the old gas saw. If you never tried a gas pole saw you cannot appreciate how great this is. No vibration . No noise. Works well for home use. Cannot comment for commercial use. ... show more

    • Heavy But Worth it.
I live on a lake and have been watching these mimosa trees spreading like locusts down the hill by the water. They've always been out of reach for me until today. I smiled like a schoolkid after my first cut. I can stand on top of the hill and reach those bushes right on the bank. For me, I couldn't have asked for a better result. This thing is kind of heavy, but the harness helps and build quality appears to be robust. I had two 6.0 amp batteries installed, spent an hour cutting and still have 4 bars on the charge meter.     • Best Makita tool yet
I was weary of getting this tool but it performed superbly. Battery life was better than expected. Worked great with softer woods, not surprisingly it did have trouble with Hickory but was great with Cedar etc. I was so impressed I might buy the chainsaw too instead of relying on my gas one

    • This thing is a Beast.
Light years better than my old 8’ two-cycle saw. This thing is solid, well made and has terrific cutting power. Just be warned, this saw will wear you out if you have lots to do. The double battery and long, sturdy pole adds to the weight. That being said, I would never go back to a gas saw again.

    • 13’ Advertised Length is Misleading
The media could not be loaded. The advertised 13’ pole length is very misleading. This measurement was actually taken from the end of the bar to the back of the batteries. The actual extended length of the pole itself is approximately 9’ 8”. As far as I know, Makita doesn’t make an additional extension pole for this. The saw works well, and I will keep it to avoid the hassle and expense of shipping it back. However, in hindsight I should have purchased an Echo PPT-2620, for which you can buy an additional 4’ extension pole. ... show more

    • It's a little bit "clunky"
Yes, it is a bit clunky to maneuver when fully extended but, after getting accustomed to this, I found that it does a pretty good job at trimming off lower branches and suckers on many of my trees. The big plus is that it is made by Makita, the "Toyota" of power tools. I have a small arsenal of their tools and like them all. ... show more
