My husband of 43 years passed away in 2019 from agent orange from the vietnam war. I just found a couple of vhs tapes one of his retirement from the navy and the other from when we renewed our wedding on our 25th wedding anniversary which was 9/11/2001. I found this vcr on amazon and thought I'd take a chance. My grandson hooked it up and we got to watch both tapes. The dvd/vcr combo was used,I thought I was buying new. The unit did not work and the remote was to another unit. I was upset because I had to go to the post office and send it back. It was time consuming and costly. I did get my money back on what I paid to send the unit back. Amazon should make it clear if buying new, I also thought I was buying from a company. ... show more

This is a basic machine, which works well even though used. Am glad these are still 'out there!' The good fortune is that the remote to our 'younger' Magnavox (broken) works with this one! It does not have any 'bells and whistles, such as recording (a feature included with our other Magnavox), but it is a very user-friendly unit and just what we were needing right now. ... show more

    • Good Player, Good Value, No Coax Cable Output
The product works well and the controls are user-friendly. The only downside is that there is no coax (cable) output so you can't use this by tuning to channel 3 (as you use to do with most VCRs). There are other outputs and this probably isn't a problem for most people, but some older users who are more comfortable with the channel 3 solution might take a while to figure out where the Input button is on their TV remote. ... show more

I thought it had a problem out of the box but we contacted the seller and he figured out we had it hooked up wrong. Be aware the VCR only works though the old red/white/yellow av cables. You may need an adapter for newer TVs
