This is a really accurate device for pH testing. It feels much more precise than basic test strips and gives a clear digital reading, which is useful for pools, drinking water, aquariums, labs, and other testing needs. For my pool, it worked very well and gave me confidence in the readings. The large backlit display is easy to read, and the automatic temperature compensation is a nice feature. That being said, it is probably more than I personally need just for testing my pool’s pH. If you only need basic pool maintenance, you may not want to spend this much. But if you want a more accurate meter or need pH testing for multiple uses, it is a nice device. Overall, it works well and feels accurate, but it may be overkill for casual pool testing.

The Lohand portable pH meter is a very accurate and compact pH meter to help me get quick water test results for my pools pH levels. I have a salt water pool and the chlorine for the pool is generated by a salt generator that uses the salt in the pools water to produce chlorine gas. This process is seamless and very easy to maintain, however, this process also causes your pH in your pools water to rise and it must be monitored. I have a nice pool water chemistry test kit, but I don't always have time or need to run a battery of tests on my water each day. So this pH meter is perfect for when I want to quickly make sure pH is in range and whether or not I need to add any acid to lower the pH in my pool that day. To test this meter, I took a bottle of water that stated it had a 7.2 pH value. My pool test kit figured the pH of bottled water to be 7.7. This Lohand portable pH meter shows the bottled water was 7.5. Now this wasn't scientific or anything. The big bottle of water was two thirds empty because my wife was drinking out of it and it was fairly cold in temperature still. I know the temperature of water can change results which is why this meters result were closer due to its automatic temperature compensation. My pool test kit does not have this automatic temperature compensation which is why I think it was reading higher. I also don't know if the water in the bottle is actually 7.2 or if that is a manufacturer average. You can also use the powdered pH packets to ensure this is calibrated on the nose, but you will need de-ionized water to mix with the powder. For my purposes though, this meter will give me a quick and accurate measurement as to where my pools pH levels are at. Overall, I'm very impressed with this meter, the hard sided carrying case, its accuracy, and its price point. I consider this a good value and way more accurate then pool test strips for quick glances of pH levels.

Been using this for a few weeks now across a handful of different testing scenarios — pool water, well water, and a bunch of bottled drinking water brands just to see what they're actually putting out. Compared against samples where I already knew the pH, it's been coming in within about ±0.05 every time, which is tighter than I expected. The backlight is genuinely useful if you're testing somewhere with bad lighting, like a pump room or outside at dusk. The calibration process was straightforward — buffer powder was included, took maybe five minutes the first time. The case is a nice touch for keeping everything together instead of hunting for the electrode cap every time. Still building out my sample set on the bottled water stuff, but so far nothing has matched what the labels imply, which is its own kind of interesting. Will update once I have more data points.

If ph matters, u can not beat this meter, easy to read, very very accurate, sure beats the test strips.... the unit works as it should, simple use, ph reading is consistent, tested over and over on same liquid to confirm. love the backlight.... highly recommended for the right application
