The 6 quart capacity is perfect for pot roasts, stews, or a large batch of beans. This vibrant red Dutch oven has black matte enamel rims, its cooking surface is off-white enamel, and the smooth glass surface won't react to ingredients. Complete with a stainless steel knob and loop handles for great control, it provides excellent heat distribution and retention for consistent, even cooking. Use it to broil, braise, bake, or roast in the oven up to 500° F, and sauté, simmer, or fry on any stovetop. If you read enough of the negative reviews you may see comments about Amazon not accepting returns of this item. That is NOT entirely true. Currently, as of this writing, there are 7 different suppliers/sellers of this item including Amazon. "If" you buy one from a third party seller (i.e., "not" sold by Amazon) then you will have to contact the seller to work out any problems or issues. If the items say "Sold by and Shipped by Amazon" then you can return it to Amazon just like any other item they sell. NET: Several reviews mention chipped porcelain damage so do yourself a favor and make sure you purchased one that says Sold by Amazon. Once it is delivered you should inspect it immediately inside and out. Fortunately mine arrived in perfect condition with no chips or damage of any kind... Whew... (although no thanks to Amazon). As you can see in the photos there was no packing material or padding in the Amazon box it was shipped in, nor was there any padding in the Lodge Dutch oven box other than having two layers of cardboard. As mentioned, mine arrived with no damage but I wanted to show why damage "might" occur if the shipment is not handled properly. LAST: There is some confusion as to whether or not it is dishwasher safe due to the conflict between the advertisement versus the use and care instructions. "Yes" it is dishwasher safe as there is nothing your dishwasher could possibly do to physically damage cast iron "however" the soap tablets and packets used in most dishwashers contain harsh detergents that can dull the glossy finish of the porcelain making it look tired and worn. My Dutch oven arrived damaged so I contacted Lodge customer service as these products have a lifetime guarantee. They promptly replaced it but, to my surprise, the second item arrived with even worse damage. Photos of the 2 items attached. These are not returnable and I was afraid to get a third one damaged so I got a refund from Amazon as Lodge suggested. I was thinking that the two damaged items both had the damage on the handle so I wrote back to Lodge suggesting this could be a manufacturing error (made in China for an American company with American oversight and customer service). I also suggested that the error may have impacted only the ones in the color I bought. Having used their Dutch ovens before with satisfaction, I let them know this and that I was hesitant now to order another one because I’d get stuck with these heavy items. I've had my Lodge dutch oven for almost a year. One of the best purchases I have ever made. Don't tell my KitchenAid mixer, but I think I love this more. I'm Greek and cook a lot. 😂 I've used this for everything from pasta dishes like manestra to frying keftedes (meatballs) -- have even used to bake bread! It's a great item for one-pot meals. While it gets plenty hot because it's cast iron, the enamel makes deglazing and cleaning a breeze. I use mostly silicone and wooden tools, but even with metal utensils, I haven't had any chips. This gets used almost daily. I will absolutely look into getting different sizes. Lodge is a great brand for those of us who can't quite afford Le Creuset ... show more

I ordered this as a gift and shipping was taking quite a long time. Then someone else I know bought this as a gift for the same person I did and so I decided to return mine since it hadn't yet shipped. It was still waiting in the warehouse and had yet to be picked up by the carrier and Amazon informed me that I had to wait for it to arrive before I could return it. So I let it arrive and tried to return it only for Amazon to inform me the item is unreturnable. I was able to get a refund but that was a bit disappointing. No Idea what I am going to do with this one. I have one already and its fantastic, so I guess having 2 isnt so bad, but it takes up a bit of space ... show more

I absolutely love the shape of this bowl! I'm a life-long fan of Le Creuset cookware and am skeptical of anything that claims to be comparable. I decided to try the Lodge brand. There was no problem with even-heating or cleaning. Both products do a good job of that. What is great about this 6 qt model is the shape of the bowl! Stirring and mixing the ingredients, cleaning the sides during cooking, checking the food at the bottom and the sides are so easy, just because of the pot's shape. Great idea! Lodge has nailed it with this dutch oven. This oven cooks just as good as the high end brands that are triple the price or more. The only slight difference that may irritate some but it's not a big deal to me at all is the bottom is not 100% flat compared to the Le Creuset or Staub dutch ovens. This could mean the edges of your meat don't sear as good as they would in a flat bottom if you had a large cut of meat. Two features sold me on this one, the reviews and the evergreen color. Today she made a crab bisque that came out perfectly, no burning or uneven heating. I've cooked multiple dishes in this dutch oven and it has handled all of them without any issue. There was no sticking during the cooking process, and it was pretty easy to clean. I have seen no paint chipping inside or outside of this dutch oven. I've used this dutch oven two times a week and it has held up very well. It is heavy and feels very sturdy.
