  • Brilliant. Works great.
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch, Tubing Pattern Name: Pump
We've got a stand-alone (aka portable) AC unit which somehow dehumidifies the daylights out of our family room. Last year we elevated this on a table and had a short hose into a large bucket that we carried through the house and emptied daily. Not this year! We simply put the hose end into the Little Giant Automatic Condensate Removal Pump (into one of the four input holes (using the provided plugs for the others), plugged this thing in, ran the plastic hose which came with it from the outlet on top of this unit out the nearest window (where we were venting the AC anyhow, so it didn't look stupid) and this thing just saved us umpteen bucket emptying trips over the summer. Worth its weight in gold! Why the Little Giant? I've been using their brand for about 35 years, and never had a problem. When I need to replace for my built-in HVAC units, this is the brand I've used. No problems. Happy to have been able to save so much time and effort and potential floor damage this year for this well priced unit. ... show more

  • Great for an ice machine drain
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch Pattern Name: Pump
I've gone through numerous ice machines over the years, and a frequent weak point on them is the drainage pump for installs where not using a flood drain. It will inevitably fail, flooding the area around it. I decided to lessen that risk by using an external drainage pump even when the ice machine is available with an internal pump, because then it's easy to inspect, easy to maintain, easy to replace, and typically costs 4x to 10x less than the vendor's inferior pump. If using one of these for such a use case though, you need to be careful about the amount of water discharged by the ice machine during a fresh or harvest cycle, depending on when your particular ice machine does its discharge. This unit only has a 1/2 gallon reservoir, and I don't think it pumps faster than two to three gallons per minute. It's definitely faster than 80 GPH (1.33/minute), but I don't know if its GPH spec of 80/hour is just under-rated for safety reasons, or it's for duty cycle reasons. In any case, make sure your ice machine is not one that dumps more than probably 2.5 gallons in a minute to stay in a safe zone. My latest machine is a 125lb/day crescent machine from Hoshizaki (KM-116BAJ) and this pump works great with it going on a few months now. ... show more

  • Excellent replacement condensate pump. Some helpful tips.
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch Pattern Name: Pump
I came home from a lengthy trip and found the downstairs very warm (summer time). The a/c was not running. First thing I thought was the compressor died and that would be bug bucks to fix. Upon inspection of the furnace and a/c unit combo in the basement I noticed the overflow tray was full. This is normally dry. After getting the water out the unit turned back on. The water level in the tray apparently tripped the safety switch shutting down the unit as designed, saving my basement from flooding. Looking closer the condensate pump was overflowing with water. After checking fuses I determined the pump is bad. This particular pump pumps water up about 8 feet then out about another 50 feet so I needed a good pump designed for this purpose. This Little Giant fits the bill. TIP1: The original condensate pump was installed at the time the a/c unit was installed so the pvc pipe that enters the top of the pump tank will most likely not line up with the replacement pump. I had to unscrew and remove the top of the pump cover, wiggle the condensate pvc tube into the tank opening, and then replace the top cover. TIP2: If you are replacing just the pump and will be reusing the clear 3/8 tube, make a fresh cut of the tube where it attaches to the pump fitting for a snug fit. TIP3: About that clear tube...before reattaching it to the new pump, it's a good idea to blow air through it to ensure the line is clear (to be sure the old pump didn't die from trying to push water through a clogged hose). TIP4: With the furnace and a/c unit off (via breaker) and the pump plugged into a GFI circuit, pour water into the condensate pump tank through one of the other two openings. Observe that the pump comes on and there are no leaks. Observe that the water level drops in the tank. If all is good you can switch the furnace a/c combo back on. You're good to go! ... show more

  • Little giant condensate pump
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch Pattern Name: Pump
My condensate pump on my home air conditioner started leaking (overflowing) Turns out it was actually the check valve coming out of the pump (there’s a rubber piece inside that valve that fails) my pump was a few years old and this pump wasn’t that expensive and it’s a bigger pump so I just replaced it. Works perfectly! Kicks on and kicks off with the built in float. Couldn’t be happier! ... show more

  • Quieter than original one
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch Pattern Name: Pump
Had to replace the old one which was 18 years old, also a Little Giant VCMA-20ULS. The old one had a shut off switch with an actuator - a metal copper tab - that was corroded and had bent over time so that the pump would not turn off unless I shook it a bit. (see pics of old pump) There was a lot of sludge in the bottom from the humidifier, and all the parts that go into the water were slimy. I guess I hadn't cleaned it out for a long time. The company recommends cleaning it every time one changes the HVAC air filter, which for my system is once every 1-2 months depending. The new one is the same model but runs much quieter than the old one did. I may order a new shut-off switch to replace the old one in the old pump if it isn't too pricey so I will have a backup pump or one I can use for something else. ... show more

  • Easy to install replacement part
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch Pattern Name: Pump
Replacement for our old pump that stopped working. Took a little fine tuning to make sure everything was connected properly but was relatively easy to install. This was our last attempt to fix the slow leak before calling a professional, so it was absolutely worth it.

  • Performs as expected (except for check valve)
Size: 115 Volts Style: 115V, Safety Switch, Tubing Pattern Name: Pump
The famous pump seen in bazillions of installations (which is why I bought it). Tested out of box before installation the unit works fine. Except, the check valve doesn't check. Water in the discharge line slowly backflows into the pump. Contact with Franklin Electric mfg. tells me thats not a problem. Ok, fine. Then why is it a check valve if it doesn't actually check... ... show more
