  • Exceptional Performance and Durability: Lifetime In-Ground Basketball Hoop
I recently installed the Lifetime In-Ground Basketball Hoop, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in several aspects. Pros: Ease of Installation: The installation process was surprisingly straightforward. The clear instructions and well-designed components made it a hassle-free experience. I was able to set it up with minimal effort, and the entire process was completed in a reasonable amount of time. Adjustability: One of the standout features of this basketball hoop is its impressive adjustability. Whether it's adjusting the height for different players or changing the angle, the mechanism is smooth and reliable, allowing for seamless transitions between settings. Sturdiness: The sturdiness of the hoop is truly commendable. Even during intense games and slam dunks, the hoop remains stable and doesn't wobble. This level of durability gives me confidence in the longevity of this product. In conclusion, the Lifetime In-Ground Basketball Hoop has proven to be an exceptional addition to our home. Its ease of installation, impressive adjustability, and remarkable sturdiness make it a standout choice for any basketball enthusiast. ... show more

  • Great hoop!
We got this to upgrade from a portable hoop. The assembly and install is time consuming. Allow four hours or so in addition to the time setting the base in concrete. We ended up needing five bags of quick set concrete and the 3' piece of rebar called for in the instructions. You also need a ratchet set, a wrench set, a drill, and ideally a 3/8” hex driver. The instructions call for two wrenches of each size, but using a ratchet instead of one of the wrenches is easier for most steps. When putting the pole pieces together, they got stuck very tightly before the holes lined up. I was able to Google and find the solution of dropping the stuck pole pieces from shoulder height over and over until they separated. Using WD-40 on all the pole pieces after that did the trick to get the pieces to fully insert, I wish the instructions had specified doing that from the start! You'll need two people for the final stages of assembly and, just briefly, three people to lift and insert the hoop in the base. Ultimately, th hoop is worth the install effort, the materials are quality, and it is very easy to adjust the height with the power lift. ... show more

  • Frustrating Assembly, Flimsy Feel: A Review of the Lifetime In-Ground Power Lift Basketball System
While the Lifetime In-Ground Power Lift Basketball System initially seems like a great way to bring backyard ball to your home, my experience was far from perfect. Here's why I wouldn't recommend it: Assembly Nightmare: Brace yourself for a battle. The instructions were unclear, and the sheer number of parts made putting it together a marathon. Even worse, many of the fasteners had burrs - those rough edges left behind from the manufacturing process. This made it a nightmare to screw things together, scratching and scraping as I went. Flimsy Feel: Once assembled, the whole system felt less than sturdy. The backboard felt light and cheap, and I wasn't confident it could hold up to aggressive dunks (or even enthusiastic layups). Missing Pieces? It's possible that Lifetime no longer sells this system because it was discontinued due to quality issues. This would explain the burrs on the parts and the overall flimsy feel. Look Elsewhere for Lasting Fun If you're looking for an in-ground basketball system that will provide years of enjoyment, I recommend looking elsewhere. The Lifetime In-Ground Power Lift Basketball System might be tempting at first glance, but the difficult assembly and questionable quality make it a frustrating and potentially wasted investment. ... show more

  • I like, I do not love. I like, I do not love.
It is very easy to adjust the height, my daughter can even do it. What I'm disappointed about is the backboard has huge scratches on it and was received that way. When I first saw them, I assumed it was the film that was scratched, not the board. However, after the film was removed, the scratches remained. Also, the goal is much more flimsy than I hoped it would be. I should have paid more for a more sturdy basketball goal. It does it's job and looks good for what it is. ... show more

  • Not what you’re looking for
Horrible experience. I was sent a crumpled box with no hardware. I had an orange piece of equipment from a chain saw added to the package I suppose because it was the same color as the basketball goal. Literally, can’t imagine what happened as this thing was being packed. I sent it back as unusable but had to repack the whole thing myself or risk loosing my refund. Very poor experience ... show more

  • It's not 'easy' to assemble, but it is unreasonable to think it should be 'easy'.
It took two men one hour to buy the concrete and paving stones, 2.5 hours to dig the hole, mix the concrete and put the bottom pole in and check it for plumb. A week later, it took two men four hours to assemble the backboard assembly, lift it onto the bottom post (in the concrete), pound the columns into place, hang the net and clean up. The web specs state the weight to be 13 pounds. I called the customer service before ordering because that number was unrealistically low. The rep said the shipping weight was about 95 pounds and that the carton could be delivered to a residential address; no shipping dock was required. It comes in a big bulky carton. I read the pdf instruction book (available on the web) prior to ordering to make sure the instructions were intelligible. They are, but the pdf instruction book on the web is not the same printed paper instruction book that was received in the shipping carton. The pdf version (apparently the older version) uses a length of rebar inside the bottom post and the bottom is filled with concrete. The newer paper version instructions seat the lower post on four patio paving bricks that sit on the bottom of the hole; there is no rebar and the bottom post is not filled with concrete. The list of tools did not mention the need for - a ruler, a can of WD-40, a 3/8 socket, the need for two hammers and a ratcheting box wrench. The ruler is used to stick through the slot in the bottom post;, used to orient the bottom post so that the slot is parallel to the edge of the playing court, which makes the backboard parallel also. WD-40: Several customer comments on the web regarding the difficulty in getting the middle column post down far enough onto the bottom column were resolved by using WD-40 as a lubricant. So we had a can of WD-40 and sprayed the outside of the top of the bottom post and the inside of the middle post and the posts slid together OK the first time. A 3/8" socket (nex drive), is needed to drive the self-tapping hex head screws with a drill A lighter 16 oz hammer helps drive the bolts through the powder coating on the column holes and a heavier 3 lb hammer is needed to drive the column posts. Installing the nuts on the U-bolt with the springs warrants having a ratcheting box wrench because of the number swings needed to run the nuts up the U-bolt. (we had the right wrench). We ended up with 2 extra black plastic spacers, which were apparently used prior to galvanized steel spacers. Lifetime's telephone customer service confirmed that the plastic ones were extras and not needed. We assembled the backboard inside a church building, and felt lucky it fit through the front door when we went to take it out to the parking lot to install it. We're pleased with it. The mechanism that raises and lowers the hoop height works very smoothly. Lifetime's telephone customer assistance is first class. ... show more
