My youngest is getting into basketball and wanted an outdoor hoop to practice with. I bought this and felt bad for the UPS driver who had to carry it to the door… the box was heavy! It took a while to put together and then putting sand in the base to help it stay upright was a chore. Once we were done it’s been problem free ever since. It’s tall, sturdy, and my son has tons of fun with it. Would buy again if needed and recommend for anyone!

Tackled this project myself. Instructions were easy to follow as long as you pay attention and read. The only hang up is that I wish I had a helper. There a few steps that two people are needed. But overall its sturdy, great looking hoop. No issues whatsoever ever.

3 1/2 stars... Nice product with a few issues - overall good value. It's packed well and all the parts are nicely organized in individual labeled bags. While it took me less than 2 hours to assemble, the directions could be better with bigger diagrams. I can easily see someone that is not mechanically inclined taking a long time to figure it out - two people are not necessary, but make it much easier for a few of the steps. Once it's together it's solid, looks good and functions/adjusts well. I am glad I decided to spend a little extra on this model that has the height adjusting locking handle rather than just the big lever in the back, it makes changing hoop heights quick and precise. The biggest issue is the extremely thin plastic the base is made of (this is mentioned in a number of other reviews) - even being aware of this issue and not moving it after filling the base with water, just moving it around my garage floor during assembly somehow got a small hole in the front bottom corner... which I didn't notice until I filled it with water. I ended up using a marine below the waterline 3M sealer/caulk to plug the hole and then added a few layers of Vycor Plus Self-Adhered Flashing at all 4 corners (had a roll in my shop, but I'm sure other products could do the job). So far so good, no more leaks and my kids love it.

Easy to assemble, heavy weight so it isn't going to blow right over. I opted for the gel base stuff that you add water to instead of straight water and it works amazing. We love the ease of changing the height.

I assembled this portable hoop and it is great. By mistake I threw out the two cap/stoppers for the base. I called Lifetime and they kindly sent me a replacement set free of charge. I would advise you to read the instructions ahead of time and also get familiar with the material list (yellow colored document). I assembled the unit on the driveway and used the box cover as a floor cover. This protected the painted metal items from getting scratched while assembling. I would advise the following for better operation and safety. 1. Once assembled use silicone lube on all of the connections. This will keep them operating smoothly and help prevent rust as the paint wears away due to friction of the moving parts. 2. I wiped the area where the hoop height label was to be affixed with rubbing alcohol prior to attaching the label. Then I pressed the label onto the shaft making sure there were no air bubbles. To seal in the edges of the label I gave the entire label area a few coats of UV resistant clear coat. I paid special emphasis to the edges of the label. This way the label will not start to fray or peel from the shaft due to weather and temp extremes. 3. Lifetime recommends filling the base with sand. This makes sense since sand is heavier than water (about 40% heavier). However, once it is filled with sand moving it is not going to be easy. I used water in the base (for easier moving and emptying) and for peace of mind I used spiral in-ground stakes with a ratchet belt around the main shaft. The stake set I used is the "Keeper 05400 Severe Weather Kit." I also poured in a gallon of car antifreeze to prevent the water from freezing and cracking the plastic base weight.

My almost 12 year old has been begging for a new hoop for almost a year! This was well worth the price and he loves it! It took my husband five hours solo to put it together so I’d recommend having some help. Also, we filled it with sand AND used twist in tie downs to keep it secure

Bought for my son for his birthday. It is a great buy and appears it was designed to last. The label of portable is suspect with 360 lbs of sand in the base. A few points: 1. It was definitely a 2 adult job, or a few places would have been challenging. 2. The funneling of 360 lbs of sand was boring and time consuming. 3. While the directions were well written, pay close attention to the location of holes in a few steps (especially the handle and the small poles used to stabilize the backboard against the main pole). Which side is up and which side is down is difficult to tell from the diagrams. PS. I contacted support via online chat, and they were great. We were back on our way to finishing after a few questions. I will follow up if anything changes.

I bought this for my 10 year old, and yet it is also fun for me. The one hand height adjuster is simply a god sent. It takes only a moment to adjust to any height. I hired someone to put this together; best 150 bucks I spent. From his perspective the directions were not easy to follow; and there was a piece missing which he had to run to Home Depot to get. If you are looking to casually shoot hoops or teach your kids. You can’t beat the price and what you are getting for it.
