  • Far exceeded my expectations.
I don't normally wear hearing aids. I have some hearing loss that is primarily tone related. I was around airplane engines hot fueling planes and riding in them for about 10 years while skydiving. I think in all that time, I only knew one person who worked around the planes that was smart enough to wear hearing protection. Now I'm paying the price for those bad decisions. While overall my hearing is very good, I struggle with conversations in noisy areas, listening to the TV (I long ago resorted to subtitles rather than cranking up the volume), most phone conversations and any deep tones. These hearing aids slip over your ears and "plug into" your ear canal. They are almost invisible. I had my hair pulled up this week and I had to point them out before anyone noticed them. I wore them all day long at work and they didn't bother me at all. One day I wore them for about 16 hours straight that is the only day that one of my ears became a bit sensitive around the top but I also had surgery on that ear in my youth and it is shaped a little different than the other one. Otherwise they are comfortable to the point I forget they are there. So much so, I went to poke my finger into my ear because I had an itch and completely forgot that I had them in. The hearing test is superb and you can use that to get your custom setting. I like that you can control if from an app. I was in a meeting last week where one person who is a very loud talker decided that they had to yell because their already loud speaking voice, wasn't enough. I used the app to turn it way down. I remember watching my father (whose hearing was also damaged from loud aircraft from when he worked on an aircraft carrier and then runways in the military) struggle with the hearing aids he purchased from his Doctor. They were big clunky things that you could hear whistling with feedback. He stopped using them because they were perfect when he tried them on but then after they adjusted them at the doctor's office, he could never get them to work well again. So, to pull these out of a box, charge them up, take a hearing test and have them perfect is amazing. I will say at first it was a little strange as I could even hear my hair moving over my ears and every little, tiny noise was amplified so that I felt like I had a superpower. I don't know if I adjusted that out or if I just got used to it because I don't feel that way now. I'm not sure how long a single charge lasts. I know you charge the case and it recharges the buds. I've only charged the case once and I've been wearing these for a week so far. It doesn't seem to have an indicator to show where you are in the charge cycle. It just has lights... and now that I'm looking at it again when I just opened the case the two white lights are slow blinking at me so I'll bet it is telling me to get it charged! ... show more

  • Very high quality but still working to figure them out
These are complicated devices and they deserve more than short shrift reviews. So this review will be in multiple parts, updated over time as I learn the devices. First off, me: I'm probably a borderline case for hearing aids. I hear "fine", but I'm getting older and definitely losing some frequencies, starting to have difficulty hearing some people, and hearing in noisy environments. I've never tried hearing aids of any type before. Initial review / first impressions: These are very high quality audio devices but the product experience could use some simplification. I wrote then deleted 3 paragraphs bitching about how sloppy the out of the box experience is (and don't get me started on the App!). (Hint: Maybe start with the QR code? I went straight to the app and had no fun.) But since those little annoyances have little to do with real, long-term experience with these devices...moving on. I now have them in my ears with no adjustments whatsoever. The good news is I can immediately hear substantial difference. I'm getting ALL SORTS of high frequency now. Definitely too much, but it highlights how much I've been missing. The devices are light and comfortable. Very easy to wear. I don't particularly like having ear buds in my ears, but these are quite small and I really don't even notice them unless I'm thinking about it. Sound is extra crisp and clear and obviously high quality -- tones sound like they are coming from studio quality headphones. Update: I've now gotten through the hearing test (took a good half hour longer than it should have, but ok). The settings for my hearing bring up the mid-tones a bit, but are otherwise pretty close to normal. I was kind of liking the over-amplified profile so will play with increasing their baseline a bit. It is a shame the out of box experience is so unnecessarily messy. But once you get past that, these have a great sound and are easy to wear. If the battery life is good, it could be a winner. Summary so far: If you've been thinking of trying hearing aids but thinking maybe not yet, I say do it. I'm impressed how much extra sound these deliver and its all very crisp. List of issues so far: 1 - Battery case has charging indicator lights on the inside. 2 - They give you a sad little cardboard box/envelope for holding the extra bits & bobs. 3 - The in-app volume and level adjustment don't always work. I could run volume and bass/treble all the way up and down manually with no difference in sound. But after the hearing test, their settings were passed through. Will test this more later. 4 - Lots to discover about using these and wearing hearing aids generally (like why do they whine when putting them on?). Its more than a little annoying that I've been fiddling with them for almost an hour and have mostly only figured things out on my own. I'm not gonna start bitching about how sad the out of box experience is but, seriously guys, decide whether you're a consumer electronics company or a medical device company and then hire a couple experts to stick to that path. This is clearly a great piece of hardware, so fix the program. ... show more

  • Not guaranteed if issues
I really wanted to love these hearing aids, however, they're pretty nice, but not great. I will say though, that when they work; they're wonderful, loads better than any other OTC hearing aids I've ever tried. I love that with the app they can be adjusted just right for your hearing, but with that being said, I do feel the app is lacking. You can't adjust each ear separately and that's what I need to be able to do as my hearing is different in each ear. They are small, and virtually invisible when wearing. They do come with extra domes so you can get a good fit, as well as wax guards and a cleaning brush. They hold a charge for a really long time, so that's also a plus. However, for the price, I do wish these were better. I had an issue of it not staying at levels I set but randomly jumps to maximum level and making all kinds of feedback noise at high pitches that hurt my head - which could be the app, or it could be the case and I did try their support via app, but their suggestion was just to send them back at my own expense on shipping and insurance, including return shipping. And they couldn't tell me if they would be replaced or not. The other suggestion was just to buy a new one as they said Amazon's stock could just be old or damaged, and they couldn't guarantee they could replace it even though it was warranted for a year. Then they sent an email to me with details that said I could be expected to pay around $50-$60 if they need to make adjustments and they did not guarantee a replacement, and this is why I can't give this a better rating. ... show more
