This has been a really useful little drive for my 3D printing setup. I use it to move files between my computer, phone/tablet, and printer, and having both USB-C and USB-A on one drive makes it way more convenient. The 256GB capacity is plenty for print files, photos, videos, backups, and random project folders. It’s also small and easy to keep with my setup without taking up space. So far it has been reliable, and I haven’t had any issues with files transferring or the drive being recognized. The only thing I’d say is because it’s small, I’d keep it somewhere safe so it doesn’t get lost. While the drive reads and writes quickly and without issue, the swivel mechanism feels really gritty and cheap. It's loud, loose, and feels like there's debris stuck in it the moment you pull it out of the box. No matter how careful you try and take care of it, nothing makes this grittiness go away and you're just stuck dealing with the icky feeling when going from USB C to A and vise versa. Additionally, while using the swivel, it squeaks. Not even a quiet squeak either, it's loud and annoying every time. Otherwise, heat isn't much of an issue, even under load it stays relatively cool. I bought this to transfer files from my overloaded phone. It was easy and pretty much a non-event. I am so pleased. A while back I bought a different one, an Omni-something, I think? It wouldn't work so I contacted the company and they said the Omni didn't work with Motorolas. I asked why they didn't let customers know that, and they said they didn't say anything because they didn't have a solution yet. Really? But this Lexar? It worked perfectly. Once I was finished downloading from my Android phone, I plugged it into my Mac and was able to look at everything. Ah, if only I had just bought the Lexar the first time. Good reliable drive. Having a usb c and usb a type connector makes it versatile. Handy for pulling images and videos off my pixel phone quickly if I don't want to bother emailing or moving the content online. Plenty of size and storage capacity. I've noticed it gets hot much faster when using the USB C connector but still works fine. Good transfer performance for this price point. UPDATE The dual USB-C and USB-A function was very convenient for scanning PDFs with my Canon imageCLASS MFC laser printer with a USB-A port and then transferring to Mac computers over USB-C. I always used the safe ejection feature on the scanner and my computers, but about 4 months into ownership, I began getting occasional corrupted PDF scans. I think it is a problem with the Canon. I reached out to Lexar support, who guided me through recovery tools for the drive. In the end, the issue resolved itself with another scan run on the Canon and use of the safe eject media button on the Canon scanner. I'm not sure if it is the drive or the scanner, but since I always immediately back up my files, I'm not that concerned. It is only annoying when I have scanned 100 pages, safely eject the media and there is no file and/or the PDF is corrupted. I will play around with different scenarios to see what triggers this.
