I put a couple of these around a pole barn building. These are fairly wide and want to fit flush up to the side of the building which was a minor problem due to the ribbed sheet metal on the building, so I had to place a 3/4 thick mounting board for it. I've had one installed for over a year now and it does a great job. The second one is on 6 months and going strong too. Note that this light shines outward and it does a very good job illuminating the ground at 50+ft from the building. Perfect for us in the country with acreage but this may be annoying to nearby neighbors if it shines toward a house. ... show more

    • Using an allen wrench 20' up in the air - ridiculous!

There's nothing wrong with this light other than the allen screws they've provided to close the cover. I'm thinking whip out my cordless drill and done in 10 minutes as I have installed many of these but I discover it uses allen screw to attach the cover lens - how stupid is that?? That's the first part I will replace with phillips head screws. Not very well thought out but these morons don't install these and any work they do is on a table about 36' tall. A little on the job training should fix that. ... show more

I really wanted to like these lights but when I opened the first box to inspect it I noticed a few features that are must haves for an easy installation. First of all, the screws holding the cover onto the back plate aren't standard Philips screws. When you're on top of a 15 ft ladder installing a wall pack light on a cinderblock wall, it's nice to be able to use a standard screw driver instead of having to search for a custom Allen wrench bit driver. Second, the screws aren't captive and/or they don't have a small o-ring to hold them onto the cover once they are undone. Captive screws are nice when you are up on a tall ladder. Third, there's no way to disconnect the wires running from the ballasts to the cover. In other words, it's missing quick disconnect couplers. Without these it's really, really hard to mount the back plate to the wall because the cover is still on the hinges and it makes holding the backplate for mounting all but impossible. It would take two hands to hold the light in an open position and a third or fourth to operate the hammer drill. Every other light I've installed has a way to disconnect the cover from the back plate to make a one-person installation easy. Yes, you could cut the wires and wire nut them but . . . The packaging was also missing the foam backer plate that is supposed to waterproof the electrical connection between the wall and light. Without this I'd be getting water and bugs in there and I just didn't want to deal with it. There are a couple features I do like about these lights. The dual ballasts are a good thing. Smaller ballasts with a lower individual watt rating should last a lot longer than a single high watt ballast. Also, the back plate has an integrated level inside of it, which is a nice touch when you're trying to drill level mounting holes. And the thing feels really well built, nice and solid. Unfortunately, the cons just don't make it worth the hassle and I had to return them. Luckily, they honored my return request and promptly gave me a refund after they received the lights back. ... show more
