Ignore the mess. We emptied our sheds and have been doing major lawn/garden work. I purchased these because we take our trash out the night before the garbage trucks come to pick it up. We have in the past used flashlights which are extremely inconvenient especially if there is lawn maintenance trash and you loose a hand to the flashlight when you sometimes need both. Having these lights has made a huge difference. All of them work well except 1 has 1 out of the 100 LED's Not working. To me that is a non issue. Only one bad LED out of 600 is surprising and obviously does not affect the brightness on a perceivable level and I probably wouldn't notice it but I was the one to install them and select the operating mode. I am happy with these lights and since they are mounted on a pvc fence I used outdoor guerrilla double sided tape which I know will last at least two years in a saltwater environment so it should be fine for a lot longer at my house. The motion sensor is not extremely sensitive and a human being or large animal is needed to activate the lights. Squirrels, possums, raccoons, and other small animals would unlikely activate the lights unless they were to knock a trash can over. Altogether I am very happy with the level of brightness, the motion activation, the ability to select a 0 mode which deactivates the light completely, and the quick shut off once the area has been vacated. I highly suggest purchasing these for security cameras, areas of frequent access at night, or just as ambient lighting with the always on low power mode.

3 years update: these lights lasted 3 years, great for the price. Likely would’ve been longer if i had properly installed them. They were moved around a lot, set in puddles, generally not well cared for. Looked for more but they were unavailable every time. So glad to find them available again! He ones i still had lasted three years, great light & hold a charge all night. After about one & a half years, two went MIA after having some home improvement work done, they weren’t fastened down. Original review - Of the large selection of this type of light to choose from, I couldn't have done any better than these & in fact plan to buy more. They only need a little daylight to hit them, even through a window on a cloudy day (for enough hours) to recharge. The light does tend to be brighter according to how much sunshine we enjoyed the day before. I have one on a low end-table in a breezeway, placed backwards so the solar panels can collect the little light that it accesses during the day. It reliably lights up every night even though some nights are slightly dimmer it's reliably enough to use my house key! I bought Gorilla tape to attach them outside my house so no need for drilling. The 3 settings are perfect for safety & utility, bright but not blinding. Motion detector functions as i wanted it to. Happy with my choice & will buy more of these handy lights!

FINAL EDIT: 2 years, and they are all dead except the flash light. That's... Not bad. EDIT: It's now nearly 2 years. I've got 3 that are still mostly working. Of those, 2 were actually outside, and one is used as a rechargeable flashlight. That last one, which I have been very cautious about has not built up this corroded film that the others have from being outside, and has remained brighter than my phone light. (Considering the device's size compared to my phone, and being mostly made of lights, I'd be upset if it wasn't.) But let's be honest here, it's 30 bucks or so for 6 LED devices. It's not some 20 thousand dollar solar installation. You get what you pay for. And perhaps a little more. Especially when customer support refunds the purchase so that you give them a good rating. EDIT 3: Well, it's now been over a year, and despite them losing the majority of their initial power and brightness have substantially reduced in those first few months, it has stayed relatively stable, and haven't died yet. So I'm raising the star rating. EDIT 2: Alright. Somewhere around 2 months later, and 1 of them that I installed is just dead. The ones on the poles are probably about to die. And the two I used as flashlights ... are alright. Definitely not as bright as they used to be, but thanks to the relatively limited use, haven't degraded near as much. This is impressively bad. Solar panels and LEDs are famed for their longevity. The construction had to be especially shite to get such a failure rate. EDIT: OK, I installed them and was very satisfied with them (thus my early 5 star review). A little less than a month later, and 1 just randomly refuses to turn on, no matter the lighting mode (and then randomly decided to turn on later). And the two that were positioned on a pole in direct sunlight all day... have basically burned out, and only last a few hours before their light is basically useless. Even on the setting with the minimum constant light. And the two I was using for flash lights? Yeah. No. Just get a solar phone charger and recharable flash light. These are hyper fragile, and even a bad tap from setting them down can short the circuits. And even when they aren't completely nonfunctional, they just flicker constantly. It is obnoxious. --- I'm still waiting on the drill to come in, because there was no indication on the page as to how it's supposed to be installed. But I did manage to just leave one in the sun for a couple hours, and then brought it in on the always on, semi-bright mode. It lasted through the night, and I didn't need to turn on any lights in the house. Granted, there were about 6 left until sunrise, but it lasted long enough on a partial charge that it seemed like it would do its job. As a solar flashlight, or constant ambient light at night, the semi-bright mode is the best. For lighting up the area immediately around your home, the dim mode with bight motion sensor seems the most useful. As for the bright mode that turns off without motion... Maybe mounting to the inside of a window with double sided tape (not included). It does feel rather guilt free to just have them running. But I do know that batteries wear down, and LEDs grow dim with use, and I do wish that the description gave at least an estimate for how long these things can last. Overall? With 6 of them (8 if the promotion for reviewing is real), it definitely seems like good value for money.
