I've tried a number of solar motion lights and most don't last a year. These seem to be working well so far, surviving a winter with almost no sun (Western Washington has about 8 months of dreary gray skies with a heavy drizzle almost daily). Good for locations where you don't have any wired power and don't want to have to keep replacing or recharging batteries. It would be nice if the batteries in these were easy to remove so that they could be charged outside the light, or to replace them when they lose capacity. However it is something that probably doesn't matter since by the time the battery loses it's capacity, the solar cell will also have dropped to producing maybe 50% of it's rated power on a perfect day. ... show more

I have bought many solar lights before years ago. Most of them worked for a few weeks and then died. When they were working, they started to light up at around 5-6 PM, and by 8-9 PM, the battery ran out, so in general, they were not very useful. I thought the new motion-sensing solar lights might solve this problem, so I decided to try it out. This is the first motion-sensing solar light set I bought. There are six solar lights in the box. They came with screws for installation. The solar lights are triangular so the solar panel is at 45 degrees when installed on the wall. They were lightweight but, true to the advertisement, weatherproofed. The sensors work well; they detect movements 10-30 feets away (with a direct line of sight). The bright LEDs light up the walkway as desired at night. Thanks to the motion sensors, the lights work even in the winter-clouded days with no direct sunlight. There are three lighting modes: dim but long-lasting, bright, or motion-activated. You can change the setting with a button on the front. You press the button to cycle through the modes, but it is difficult to tell which mode is activated during the daytime. You can cover the light sensors to see the effect. Shipping speed was great and description of the function of the lights are awesome. I will definitely purchase more lights to accommodate the dark areas around our home. I was kind of skeptic and headstand to purchase these lights but WOW, I’m actually super impressed now that they’re installed. The side of our house is extremely dark at night- making this a potential safety issue for intruders. I wanted small, discrete, and highly functional lights to solve this issue. This product is exactly what I was looking for! They are small (picture for reference) but they work extremely well. I got the white light model and I have the setting to motion detection. Let me tell you… the range they cover is exceptional!! They activate when cats or squirrels run by it, when my dog passes through the area, when my neighbors come out of their house, and at different heights/levels of people passing in front of it. It was very easy to mount and set up. They look just like the pictures in terms of design and color. They charge well with the sun and they’re water + snow resistant.
