I love the brightness of this lamp, especially since the single-bulb ceiling light in this room is quite old. Converting the lamp from a upright to a reading lamp status is easy once you realize that you rotate the arm at a 45° angle, First, the lamp shade can be adjusted to point straight up, which illuminates an entire room, or it can be pointed downward, making it ideal for a reading light. Secondly, the lamp is capable of delivering four different types of light to accommodate different uses or moods desired. The stepdown between the 4 brightness levels is great. The lowest level provides good warm white light, the middle two level is perfect for everyday lighting needs and reading or handcrafting needs, and the highest level is ideal for when you need to see well. It's simple and quick to put together, taking maybe 2 minutes. The slim profile allows it to fit into tight spaces. I'm considering getting a second one for another room! ... show more

this is a heavy black circular base with a five section black pole that screws together that has a swiveling top connected to a large flat round LED light panel. There is a manual control on the stem and it comes with a remote control that works perfectly. I fiddle around with it in many different positions, etc. but it seemed to light up the entire room the best by just pointing it straight up on the maximum brightness. It plugs into an AC outlet so there’s no need to charge anything. The remote requires two AAA batteries which did not come with it Other than the horrible Styrofoam packaging that got everywhere, this is an excellent product and certainly worth the price. I am using this lamp in a smaller sized bedroom and it is great. I like the different levels of brightness. I also like the choice between warm and cool light. The lamp, at times, does not respond to the remote when I'm trying to raise or lower the brightness. I can stand in the same spot and sometimes it will work and other times it will not.
