  • Works well
Style: Tire Clamping
Very happy with the rack. It does take a little assembly but the parts fit well (there was one small section that was tough to align). It is very sturdy on the vehicle and it's a breeze to mount and dismount the bikes. The spacing between bikes is adequate but not immense, so that the two Mt bikes do touch/rub around the seats or bars. (I am usually hauling only one bike, so this is not a major concern.) There are two drawbacks. 1) It is heavy. That adds to the sturdiness, but it is not light when moving and storing. 2) The tang is overly long. This is probably to accommodate all types of vehicles and locations of bumpers. But, it really sticks out from the vehicle. So, when loaded with two bikes, that weight has great leverage and can cause sag. I actually shortened the tang about 4 inches which made a significant improvement. And, when carrying only one bike, I load closest to the vehicle. Overall, for the ease of loading and unloading, and the stability when transporting bike, I do like this rack and I would purchase it again. ... show more

  • 1500 Miles and Working Great
Style: Pin
I have had it now for 6 months and about 1500 miles of transporting two 60# e-bikes and am very pleased. I use the anti-rattle pin and it holds the rack solidly in place. I bought a cheap ratchet wrench and socket which I store with the rack and I use it to tighten the bolt. Honestly, though, it is only needed for the last turn or so as I can run the bolt in 90% with my fingers. Some have complained about mounting the 34# rack in the receiver but I have no problem. I just leave it in the “folded up” position, grab it by the wheel supports and lift. The receiver tube sticks out horizontally and can be easily slid into the receiver. Trying to attach it in the folded-down position makes it much more difficult. When I purchased the rack I was concerned about reports of the bike frame clamps slipping and working their way up and allowing the bike to fall off. To date, this has been a non-issue as I have not had any clamp slip. I do make sure they are firmly tightened. But just for insurance I drilled holes above the clamped position and insert a padlock (see photos). Not only does this work as a fail-safe if the clamps would slip but also provides a method to secure the bikes from possible theft. It would be great if the bar came predrilled with a series of holes so a lock could easily be added. Our e-bikes are the step-through type so we needed to add crossbars to each bike (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ELSSZE) Normally these are used to hold the bike up but work just fine to hold it down. The racks hold down arms and then wraps over these rather than the frame. I will say loading 2 bikes requires some thought and experimentation to find the right positions and procedure. Because both frame hold downs are attached to the single pivoting arm things tend to get a little complex (hard to explain until you do it!). My answer was another minor modification. On the top side of the pivoting post there is a rivet inserted to prevent the arms from sliding completely off. I understand the idea but for me, it is a nuance. I simply drilled out the rivet and removed it. Now before I load the first bike I slide both arms completely off. With the pivoting arm setting flat, I position the first bike. I then move the pivoting arm up and slide the frame clamp down into position. The second bike is added and then the second frame clamp is added. When unloading the procedure is just reversed. It makes the process MUCH easier. But note – while removing the rivet makes absolutely no difference when the bikes are loaded, if no bikes are installed AND the rack is transported the clamps could work their way off and be lost. This can be prevented by just making sure the clamps are tightened as if they were holding the bikes. Another change I would like to see is to the anti-rattle bolt. If the end was not machined down as much it could accommodate a larger hole where the safety pin is inserted. Then a padlock could be installed in place of the pin allowing it to be locked to the vehicle. Still, I feel this is a nice bike rack for the price and I would not hesitate to buy it again if needed. ... show more

  • Does it's job and easy to use
Style: Pin
First off I use this for regular bicycles not E-bikes. So I really can't attest to the weight rating. Assembly was easy and once it's on the vehicle raising and lowering it is very simple and easy. Holds bikes securely, I have read other reviews that said the hooks that slide down to hold the bikes come loose. I have not experienced this problem at all. I did use the included strap just in case but have never had one loosen. I only haul them 20 to 40 miles so oif your on a longer trip maybe check them just in case. Not the heaviest gauge of metal but plenty sturdy and still a manageable weight to lift and attach to vehicle. The velcro straps that go over the wheels are a bit fidgety and kind of a pain but again once I figured out a good way to get them on they do the job and again have never come loose. I use the rack for a salsa gravel bike and a trek commuter so again if you have a heavier E-bike this may not be the best review for you. I would recommend this product for regular bicycles. I'm sure there are better racks out there but not at this price. Happy cycling!!!! ... show more

  • Good Value
Style: Tire Clamping
This bike carrier is sturdy and surprisingly well finished. Assembly was not difficult. It folds up and down easily, and stores standing up flat against the wall. When it is folded up for travel there are a couple places where metal could touch metal, so I applied a little black tape to prevent scratches. I have not yet traveled on the road with bikes loaded, but I see very little wobble in the system. Bikes appear to be stable in the loaded position, but I always use some extra safety straps regardless of the installed tie down system. I generally load one e-bike and one road bike, but it will take two e-bikes. So far I am pleased with this rack considering its relatively low price. I do some long distances, so I reserve the right to amend this review upon more experience. Edit: I made my first trip with this carrier, and it was perfect. I tightened the anti-wobble sleeve and added my own hitch tightener, and the bike did not wobble a bit. Rolling on and off one wheel at a time made even the ebike easy to handle. ... show more

  • Advertised vs Delivered
Style: Handel
This appears to be well designed and well built platform style e-bike carrier. However, one key reason for purchasing it was because of the heavy rubber straps clearly shown in the photos and illustrations that secure the wheels tightly inside the “hoops”. Instead, the product has been changed and is shipped with the same cheap velcro style straps every other manufacturer uses. The stretchy rubber straps require a welded “buttons” which are really easy to use but have been eliminated. Maybe Leader should update their visual product descriptions. The lack of rubber straps could not be seen until the entire packaging was opened up. ... show more

  • Excellent product, great value.
Style: Tire Clamping
I have been a bicycle mechanic for years, and I am particular about racks. I am blown away by the quality to value ratio.. I also have fenders on many of my bikes, and the mechanism that holds onto the front wheel can alternatively be used on the frame for bikes with fenders.
