I bought this after having done some research about the brand, but almost none about the size I wanted. This Dutch oven holds enough for 2 people, for 2 meals. I would recommend it only if you cook for yourself and one other person. I wouldn’t recommend it for larger families or if you batch prep. It does occasionally discolor if food caramelises on the bottom but a good baking soda boil will take care of that. I haven’t had issues with chipping in the 1+ year that I’ve had this. It is sort of heavy, but nothing crazy. It should come with a few plastic pieces, they’re to place around the rim to make sure the lid doesn’t scratch the pot during storage. I've used Le Creuset for years, though never owned one. Now I'm living small, as it were, and my oven is a Breville counter-top. I wanted an enameled cast iron pot and now I've found one that fits and it works just like you'ld hope. Braised some turkey thighs the other day: yummuy!

This 2.75 quart Le Creuset Shallow Round Oven is fantastic! I also have the 5.5-quart Signature Round Oven, and of course, I love it. However, this smaller one solves a couple of issues. Occasionally the 5.5-quart is just a little big and heavy for when I’m only making a simple side dish or a small dinner for just my husband and me. This smaller oven will generously hold dinner for two. And it is less to clean when there is no need to use the larger one! Also, sometimes the larger oven is tied up cooking one thing when I want to cook another. For example, just this week I made a simple ground beef stroganoff in the 2.75-quart oven while I boiled my noodles in the 5.5 qt. oven. About that “shallow” thing… this pot is still plenty deep. It certainly qualifies as a Dutch oven. But compared to the other smaller-sized round ovens, the bottom surface area of this one is larger, which means more contact with the burner. Therefore, it's great for searing smaller cuts of meat or even browning a pound of ground meat. The pictures show this 2.75-quart oven compared to the 5.5-quart oven to illustrate of the size and height difference. The media could not be loaded. This dutch oven is perfect for cooking meals for 1 to 2 people. I have cooked several meals on the stove top and then transferred to the toaster oven. Even with the lid on it is the perfect size for my toaster oven. I try not to use my oven as much to conserve energy so this is exactly what I was looking for. I like the stainless steel knob on the lid and the light blue helps to add color to my kitchen. I am a sucker for good quality products and I know I will have the dutch oven for many many years to come. So far my favorite meal for my Le Creuset dutch oven is salmon florentine. ... show more
