    • Don’t throw away the plastic separators

I bought this after having done some research about the brand, but almost none about the size I wanted. This Dutch oven holds enough for 2 people, for 2 meals. I would recommend it only if you cook for yourself and one other person. I wouldn’t recommend it for larger families or if you batch prep. It does occasionally discolor if food caramelises on the bottom but a good baking soda boil will take care of that. I haven’t had issues with chipping in the 1+ year that I’ve had this. It is sort of heavy, but nothing crazy. It should come with a few plastic pieces, they’re to place around the rim to make sure the lid doesn’t scratch the pot during storage. Don’t throw them away like I did! I love this DO, it’s one of my favourite pieces and I use it often! ... show more

This was my first ever Le Creuset product and I bought it from the Treasure Truck. I didn't realize it was the smaller dutch oven so when I received it, I was a tad disappointed. Then I cooked my first pot of soup and my attitude totally changed. This pot is amazing! It heats evenly, cooks aromatics beautifully, and cleans up with a swipe of the sponge. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be so easy to clean and it's still the thing I can't get over. Now keep in mind that it's cast iron covered in enamel, so it's heavy. In fact, it's deceptively heavy because it looks kind of small. If you have wrist problems or if you just don't like schlepping a cast iron pot around, the Le Creuset isn't for you. But if you want a piece of kitchenware that will last your lifetime and your children's as well, then go ahead. The color is gorgeous, like a balayage of charcoal gray to slate gray, really just beautiful. The inside is a lovely cream color. It really is a stunning piece and it's so useful that you'll find yourself cooking things in it that could easily have gone in a smaller pot just because it's so nice to use. ... show more

This size is going to be perfect for us. We have the 7.25 qt DO and the 5.5 deep DO - but sometimes those are just a bit too much for a side dish. This is low, not too wide and perfect for side dishes or reheated leftovers. Sea salt is a beautiful color and will go well with the other two which are deep teal.
