Right out of the box it was beautiful, much sturdier and weightier than my old standard stock pot (RIP). First thing in was a nice chicken stock made from roasted bones, and it's the lid that is the best part of this. I'm used to my stock just boiling out and evaporating away no matter how low I have the dial set to, but almost NONE of it did in this pot. And, it is super easy to clean, no staining on the enamel whatsoever after next making a large batch of red sauce. Looking forward to Thanksgiving with it; my only regret is that I didn't get the 10 qt but I wanted to start with a small basic pot. It's definitely next on my list! ... show more

Almost all my cookware is Le Creuset with a few exceptions. I had a large soup pot with fancy nonstick coatings that started to show scratches thru the coating. As I do not like eating nonstick coatings, I purchased a Le Creuset replacement. While the pot is very lightweight I never thought to check the description until the first time I used it and burnt some soup to the bottom while on simmer. This is just a simple steel pot. The enamel coatings are excellent as with all my other cookware. I will just have to use a heat diffuser from now on. ... show more
