I haven't had to use this diagnostic tool yet, but I've turned it on and played with it. It's going to be an invaluable tool if/when I get a light. Mechanics want to charge around $180-200 just to diagnose, and then you have to trust their diagnosis. This gives peace of mind & seems like a very well made tool. The touchscreen on this unit is awesome. I am not a mechanic, nor anywhere near a professional when it comes to diagnostic tools, so I can't give my educated opinion on this, but for the layman (me, lol) this seems like an easy to use, helpful tool & I am glad I have it for when I need it. I will update this review if necessary!

I got this as I am a professional automotive technician and it is always nice to have a backup tool. This tool has more to offer than I thought it would for the price. When I first set it up, I had to update everything which took a tremendous amount of time. I was shocked to find how many vehicles are supported in such an entry level tool. This not only performs system resets but will also read and clear trouble codes, give brief generic scan data, and has free lifetime updates (at least that is claimed). The only reason I rated this a four was because it is very slow to boot up when in the off position. The internal battery charges via a USBc cable, but it seems to charge slow, as well. Once charged, it stays charged for a long time. There is an option to purchase/lease more complete diagnostic level content, but I would rather use another tool for digging deeper. It is nice if a service writer can prescan a vehicle for faults so I have some idea of what faults I am looking at. This tool would be a great add to any shop needing prescan of fault codes and the ability to see IM testing status easily. I plan to use this as a travel tool because it is small and will travel easily. I constantly have people asking me what is wrong with their car and this will allow me to quick scan it and get a general idea without having to schedule time to meet up with them later. I have found some cheaper alternatives that have bidirectional communication at less cost than this one but most of them are a dongle that requires a tablet or phone to read information. It is nice that this unit is touchscreen even thought the screen is small. I feel the price is fair for its features and I would buy it again for the above mentioned purposes.

I used this to clear a fault code on a Toyota 4runner. Launch makes great products, and this is excellent quality. It's easy to use and update. The setup was easy, although it does take a while to download all the files before the first use. The display is clear and easy to read. The obd2 cable is a good length, and this includes a soft case. I really like the scanners' rubberized texture it's easy to hold. This does a great job of scanning and clearing codes with lifetime free updates. If you need something more specialized, it can be purchased on the device and added later. The unit I received was uncharged. It took several hours to charge to 100%. This is RoHS, FCC, and CE certified. I'm very happy with this scan tool it's durable and great for the price.

Works with many different automotive brands. Nice display is easy to read. Updates over a wifi connection at home. This is great as updates can be sent when bugs are found or a car brand adds new functionality as they patch their bugs and issues. This goes way beyond just reading fault codes causing the check engine light to come on. It is a very capable diagnostic tool. Rechargeable by USB C is appreciated so I'm not constantly feeding it new batteries. Nice case keeps it safe in between uses.

Although I am not particularly skilled in car repairs, I believe this tool will prove to be invaluable. It appears to be well-constructed and user-friendly. I particularly appreciate the lifetime free update OBD2 scanner. This Launch CRP 123E Plus Elite Lifetime Free Update OBD2 Scanner would make an amazing gift. You won't need it all the time but will be thankful to have it on hand when you do need it. I hope you find my review helpful.
