This clock was somewhat too "thick/beefy" for where I wanted to use it. It is 16" diameter -- There is a "hanger" on the backside (the black photo...behind the XII) There is also an additional white plastic hanger included, but I didn't use it as I returned the clock. For a different "room/setting", I would have kept it as I like it's has some "rugged" metal-connections. I like that its background is the wall behind it. All of the metal-connections felt secure. It is lightweight and clearly "airy" It has the standard AA-battery and settings at the center of its backside (black photo-last photo) It comes with directions on how to set the time/the clock hands (which do feel a bit delicate to me...not a "con" just feedback) Easy to hang (with the existing "metal loop" at the XII roman-numeral. Arrives carefully packaged with styrofoam protection. The arms/hands have a special plastic cover to protect them (attached to the clock). You provide the AA-battery. I cannot speak to being "silent" as I didn't do the full set-up, but I have no reason to doubt the claim. There is no second hand (which it doesn't state that it does have that). I like minimalism in our home and decided a large clock with the numerals would look nice on our wall all by itself. It makes a statement but still is modern, classy and minimal. It was very easy to hang and works. I like that it functions for keeping time and also is art.
