I added two hens to my family and I needed somewhere to keep them safe. This run fits the bill. Going to put poles around the bottom to keep out predators and hopefully get eggs from the girls. There was only myself and a cousin putting it together and it went pretty easy. Just be warned there are some metal screws you will have to put in so have a drill and small metal bit to make it easier. ... show more

Not made for wet climates. We lost 30 Meat birds because the water ran off the sides and splattered and soaked everything, causing the birds to get cold and sick. I suggest 6 mil plastic sold in the jumbo roll in a box. Roll it up and over the top with at LEAST 4 foot over hand. Anchored down with rocks. There was NOT enough wash frnching to cover the chicken yard / pen, had to buy more fencing. Not predator proof. Cornish cross will stick their heads through the mesh it comes with, perfect for a snack for a fox. The door is nice though. ... show more

First thing I would say is they really need to look at several things with this. The frame is flimsy. I had several of them arrive with the ends bent out of round. Didn't take much pressure at to bend them back enough to fit, so maybe that is a plus? Manual looks like they weren't even going to attempt to translate as it's just pictures, no written instruction at all. Didn't help that several of the frame pieces were not labeled, matter of fact had a couple that were totally mislabeled which led to some head scratching. Netting is just lightweight plastic coated 'chicken wire' on one big roll, held on with plastic 'zip ties' I recommend at least two people to assemble, three might be better. Going to have to address the bottom railings as it certainly not going to discourage anything from digging under. A dog would be under it in no time. Height is misleading; the wall post are less than 4 feet high, so really cuts into getting around my coop inside.... the door is very narrow and you have to assemble it, was a bit of a pain trying to get it good and square. Extra pair of hands would have helped out with that one. All in all, this product is a good example of you get what you pay for. Except, I'm not sure I even got that. Good for temporary, lower security protection for your chickens. I will probably try and figure a way to remove the coop and attach this thing by a run to help, but again, this product was much less than I would have thought. UPDATE: Zip ties are brittle and easily break, I watched my beagle pop two of them in less than a minute. I have now used some lightweight wire to "sew" the fabric to the poles. I continue to have issues with the door becoming off square enough to make opening and closing it more difficult than it should be. The wall height has proven to be really problematic as I can only walk upright in the middle, and with the limited clearance with my roughly 5 x 5 x 5 hutch inside, I had to modify the hutch ramp etc to make it work at all. I am starting to think I need to work on a tunnel system so I can remove the coop from the cage altogether by the time the pullets are grown. ... show more

This thing is worth the price. Is it the nicest or fanciest? No. Is it a value for the dollar? Heck yeah. We bought this to keep our chickens safer and it’s doing just that.

This coop is pretty ok for our little urban spot. It came quickly, was decently priced and all the pieces were there. Took us about 6 hours to put together because the instructions are extremely lacking. Just pictures no words or dimensions. You have to cut the chicken wire to measure so make sure you have wire cutters and a tape measure; and you will need a power drill for drilling holes through the door frame sections. Other than that it was super easy, snap together. I wouldn't recommend this for rural use, but for city or garden use it is totally great. ... show more

    • Flimsier than expected.

We purchased a flat roof from another supplier but it had a pretty big shipping fee so we went with this unit which had no shipping fees. I was VERY impressed with the delivery which was a day earlier than promised. That said, the tubing for this unit is much smaller than the other and not nearly as sturdy. The door latch is not raccoon-proof as they will figure out a way to unlatch about anything. A latch with holes to allow for a padlock or even a carbineer is much preferred and what our other unit has. The coated wire is 3 feet wide so there is no way to go from support tube to support tube without having to overlap and zip tie the sections. We did not follow the directions which called for wrapping AROUND the unit and instead we went up the sides and over the roof with the wire. After we set the unit in its forever spot we will add iron fence posts between the vertical posts where our wire panels overlap and zip tie the wire panels to them. The top is not so much of an issue as it is mainly for flying predators but those overlaps will be zip tied also at about 6" intervals. We do not depend on the tent stakes to keep the unit anchored and use iron fence posts at the four corners as well. They are driven about a foot into the ground and securely zip tied in 6 inch intervals. In addition to the chicken wire we will cover the whole thing in fence wire to add stability and provide safety from chewing predators like dogs, coyotes, raccoons, foxes. We also use hundreds of zip ties to close up any possible entrance gap so we buy the 1000 pc. packages from Amazon of the heavier duty tie. We do a lot of modifications to the runs we purchase but for someone who plans to only use what is in the carton I would recommend considering a sturdier frame and at the very least buying more zip ties. ... show more

It’s a little on the light duty side. Needs to be reinforced. A couple of steel T-posts and a little lumber will do. Better if you can attach to coop. Good size for small flock, easy to assemble if your handy? Not bad for the money…
