The box is nicely organized and clearly marked. You will need a Lock Cylinder removal tool and a Follower for your lock along with a good set of tweezers. A mat would be helpful but, I just used a microfiber towel to hold all the parts as i was working on them (not a great long term plan but works in a pinch). The organizer will lift out (be careful) and you can store all your extra pieces/tools underneath. The great thing about this assortment is that it also has a selection of security pins to create your own Master keys for multiple locks.     • Great product but no tools included
Great product, it would be nice if they added the tools need for rekeying. I had to search on eBay to purchase the tools.

    • Has the pins you need but not tools
Working as a hardware sales associate at Home Depot, I have learned how to rekey locks for customers before they purchase them. Having done a few Defiant, Kwikset, and Schlage deadbolts and keyed entry doorknobs, I can put my novice skills to use for my household and friends. The set is great as it includes most of the pins needed to rekey the two major brands of locks. The only negative issue I have (why 4 out of 5 stars) is that it did not include the tools to rekey (a cylinder remover, key gauge, or the ever important and necessary plastic plug follower that keeps the pins and springs from falling out of the cylinder). Obviously, if you already have those tools, then you're good to go. Just note that you'll have to order them along with the kit if you want to do anything with it. Reading and rereading both reviews and the product page, I did not see any info about tools not included. Maybe I missed it. I do not know. I would not have minded ordering them too but I wish I had known. Overall, the product is good. I cannot wait to put it into action. ... show more

    • Every landlord should have one of these
Having this kit has saved me substantially. Not only has this increased my knowledge of how a lock actually works. But it has reduced how much I was spending on locksmithing substantially. Rather than having to call a locksmith or buy whole new locks, I simply remove the deadbolt, change the pins and we're good. When I first got it, it would take me almost an hour to change out one dead bolt. After having performed this task over 20 or 30 times I've come quite good at it. I would be lost if this kit didn't have the size diagram at the top. So it helps a beginner move into the next progression of his trade. ... show more

Very nice kit, great case that keeps pins separate. Don't expect instructions to come with it. If you don't know how to re-pin a lock, check YouTube first.

    • Nice kit for two major manufacturers, with only a couple minor drawbacks
This is pretty much on par with the official Schlage kit that sells for twice as much. I would give it five stars if there were a compartment for the plug follower and pin gauge and stuff. Instead, I have to store them in a separate container underneath the pin tray. About all you could use that large empty pocket in the tray for is maybe a couple of bump keys or some shims or something. The layout of the pin pockets is a bit baffling. It seems they used a generic tray that just happened to have enough pockets for all the pins. But that ends up with the smallest pins in one of the largest pockets, and vice versa. They could have designed a tray especially for this kit, including a compartment for the tools, and even charged a few dollars more for it, and it would easily be a 5-star product. ... show more
