Description

The SmartCode touchpad smart lock with Home Connect technology enables the lock to wirelessly communicate with other devices in home. The lock allows the user (through a web enabled device) to remotely check the door lock status, lock or unlock the door and receive notifications. SmartCode is a one-touch locking motorized deadbolt. With your personalized code, you can enter your home with the convenience of keyless entry and the back-lit keypad provides increased visibility. SmartCode is easy to install, program and use, and operates on 4 AA batteries. It also features SmartKey Security as the back-up keyway. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The crisp, clean appearance of the Satin Nickel finish adds to the overall look of the product and brings a modern feel.

The things to watch for most is the orientation of the lock in relation to the deadbolt mechanism (the manuel doesn't quite make this clear and the lock doesn't work in the wrong orientation)... No clue how it works with Alexa but does not report status of lock to home assistant or hubitat. stays on the network with no dropped connections but you do get what you pay for. It was a nice addition to a dumb lock between the house and garage where a keypad was not needed. Works with my automations. ... show more

I had the Convert lock v.1 and used it for years with the cloud cam. Amazon discontinued the cloud cam, and they sent me a zigbee enabled Alexa to and camera to compensate for the loss (a really class move that keeps me a loyal customer). Anyway, the new Alexa and cameras work great, but the old lock would not pair with the Alexa. I got this version 3.0 and it installed using the same door hardware as the 1.0, and within a minute, I paired it to my Alexa and now have control of my door again. I highly recommend this as a replacement if you are in the same situation. ... show more

This lock installed fairly easily. I had to enlarge the one insert by filing it a bit to fit my existing lock. So far this has been working properly and I have integrated into the Home Assistant software. The programming was relatively easy with the Zigbee network. My biggest complaint at this time is that it seems to eat batteries. The batteries are at 40% after about a week of only locking and unlocking once a day. This may be due to the factory supplied batteries but some other reviewers relate this issue. I will use a better type of battery when I replace the original ones. The upside is that the app does show what the battery level is. ... show more

This uses Zigbee only technology which requires a controller as stated. My old Samsung Smart Home Hub worked fine. I was hoping I could use it with my alarm system but could not since my system would only interface with WiFi enable smart devices. As my previous Kwikset lock had both I just assumed this would as well, but it didn't. My fault for not checking that out. Setup and install otherwise wnet well, no proems - but do follow the instructions! ... show more

When these locks work, they are great. But half of them don't, and I'm not willing to test this one. I have a Halo that had a shallow thread and could not be properly mounted to the door. I had a Convert Wave that would not turn BT on for registration. I had a Kevo with the same issue. I do also have a working Halo and Kevo, through a combination of Customer service exchanges and buying new ones. I wanted to use Alexa to ensure all doors are locked, so I was hoping that the back of my Halo would at least work as a Convert. Big mistake. (Maybe?) Because it had been previously registered, it no longer connects to BT for registration. So now I have 3 backs that would not connect to BT, all of which in various stages of failed installation. Getting a used back is essentially adding one more to the collection. I can call the customer care and ask for a replacement (or, maybe, a way to factory reset them all!) but my hopes are dim at this point. What a waste. Pictures of the non-functioning ones.
