Description

Aura is a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock with one-touch locking and a motorized deadbolt. Within Bluetooth range of the lock, you can use the Kwikset app to control the lock, manage lock settings, and assign user codes. With your personalized code, you can enter your home with the convenience of keyless entry. Aura is easy to install and operates on 4 AA batteries. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The rich tones of Iron Black add the finishing touch to this product. The Iron Black finish provides a rich and warm complement to the product’s style.

Have been a fan of digital front door locks since I installed one for my school age son, who frequently left his house key inside the house instead of bringing it with him to school. After ten years, the one I had was failing. I wanted a new one that could hold multiple unlock codes and was easy to set up and change. This fit the bill. I have the Kwikset app on my phone, and whenever I'm at home can add and delete codes, people, dates and times very easily. Didn't even have to read the directions; code set up is pretty intuitive. When searching for a lock replacement, I found many require an internet hub to work the device remotely. This one does not work remotely so it doesn't require a hub; you manage your door codes through the phone app when you're at home on your WiFi. At first I thought I needed remote access, but then realized I would never let someone into my home for an unscheduled visit while I wasn't there. So why pay for a feature that's not needed? Did not need anything fancy- this lock was easy to install and connect via Bluetooth. Be sure to measure the available space between door handle and lock on inside- the control box can be big on some locks. This one is perfect for my door.

    • Good lock, but took twice to get it right

I will say this is a pretty good lock for the price, but I initially had an issue. So when I ordered it the first time, once installed, the lock would get stuck/tripped up on something internally. I could lock it manually, but through the app or the lock button, the lock couldn't override this trip and would think it was jammed. I contacted Kwikset (via email) and they provided no help. They gave me FAQ responses that did not apply to my issue. I tried taking it apart, and re-installing and could not figured out the issue. It was definitely something internal. I ended up returning it, and ordering another, because it matched the look, features, and price point I was looking for. The second one I ordered works perfectly fine, so although not happy I had to go through all that, but happy with the lock now. ... show more

Fairly easy to install but trying to hold the tiny little screws is a bit frustrating. Like others have stated, the locking/unlocking is a bit loud but I actually like that feature. This lock was replacing a 20 year old electronic lock from Kiwkset. I found it very difficult to install the lock, esp. the part where I have to run the screws from a plate on the back of the door through to the front lock. I have done this many times, but this one is challenging. The problem is that you have to connect the cable form the keypad to the motor and keep that in place while you run the bolts from the back plate through the front lock. Other electronic locks (including the one from 20 years ago) pass those bolts through the electronic plate on the back of the door. This one requires the bolts to pass through a separate plate and tighten before the electronic mechanism is installed. I also found I had to be much closer then 100 feet for Bluetooth to communicate with the lock. More like 15 feet. ... show more

I've had this lock for a little over a month and so far it works fine. It is MUCH louder than the Yale lock I had at my old house. It works fine but the sound is so loud and rough sounding that I initially thought something was wrong with it. I also just assumed that the keys light up but they don't. It seems like the Bluetooth feature would be used only if you are so close to the lock that you are too lazy to walk and lock or unlock the door. ... show more
