The package arrived with a lot of tape holding the box together and a lot of holes in the box. however, the reviews I had read indicated that the item was well packaged. The reviews were correct, the item was not damaged at all. Unfortunately, inside the box was a return slip with the name, address, and phone number of the previous buyer so this item was a return (probably due to all the box damage). There was no manual or paperwork inside the box other than the previous buyers return slip so I assembled it from photos. It was quite easy to assemble. The bike rack is VERY sturdy and heavy. The integrated cable locks as well as the integrated bike holder for maintenance are outstanding features! Tilting up AND down is also excellent and easy to use. Other than being very heavy, this bike rack is outstanding! Without a manual, I have no idea if we are missing anything else but I had to keep it to carry bikes for a half ironman race in another state. We are contemplating purchasing the extension that accommodates an additional 2 bikes.

Yes, the Kuat NV 2.0 is expensive. That said, you are transporting several hundred/thousand dollars in bike(s) on a several thousand dollar car; so, I think it is a little irrelative. Right? About me: I like to think I am an avid biker... but I am not. I ride for fun with my family, and I try to hit the trail on Saturdays. My wife and I ride fat bikes. I ride an XL frame, and she rides M. When I started looking for a new rack, I wanted a few features: Non - hanging, fat bikes capable, and easy to use with multiple sizes of bike. The Kuat NV 2.0 has hit all of these marks for me. The rack is easy to assemble and even easier to attach for use. I tried several racks before I purchased the NV 2.0, and I appreciate how the mechanism for preventing shake works. I also appreciate that the mechanism does not come apart or fall out of the rack. I purchased the swing arm with my NV 2.0. I have not made use of the adjustable levels to allow for the rear door to open. If I need access to my rear cargo area, then I swing the rack out of the way. I have also not made use of the bike repair station that is part of the rack. Using other racks, my bike sustained damage to its CF frame. I am happy to report that this bike rack has not allowed my bike to rub while carrying the same size or different size bikes. Additionally, don't have to worry about tires spinning in the wind or slapping the rear of the car. Bikes and rack feel locked in and secure. Having two girls in my family, it is also nice to be able to carry their bikes without additional pieces to accommodate for the difference in frames. The same is true for my buddies when they bring their full suspension bikes. The build quality is outstanding. All parts feel sturdy and high quality. Components that are supposed to move have a smooth motion that just feels professional! I have owned the unit for nearly a year, and I am still impressed by its quality. My one complaint about this system is that it is HEAVY. I am a big guy and can muscle it around, but I imagine this might be a limiter to some people. I would say it is as heavy if not heavier than most racks that support four bikes (yet it supports 2). I just ordered the add-on (a year later) I will report back when I have had a chance to use it. I imagine that this will make it too heavy for my wife to place on the car without help. Overall, I love this rack and would recommend it to anyone who can lift it.

Bought this system for a 4,000 mile road trip from Fargo to Omaha, Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Colorado Springs, Moab, Salt Lake City, Spearfish, and Home. I also bought the add-on to make it a 4 bike system. Pros: The rack was up to the task and never missed a beat on the trip regarding its intended use: hauling bicycles. It never rattled, squeaked, or made any other noises. Our bikes never came loose, rubbed any paint off, or were otherwise damaged. I'm very pleased with the performance. My bikes never got dirty, dinged, hit by bugs, or anything else as they're transported at quite a safe height. The system isn't perfect, but I don't think there is such a thing...con's below. Cons: Directions are okay, assembly is a little challenging due to the weight of the components. This thing is not light. I was able to assemble myself, but it's a challenge. When attaching the add-on portion, definitely have another set of hands to keep things safe. If it tips over while assembling it could damage anything nearby. It's a beast. Once I had the add-on attached and had a 4 bike system, it required both my wife and I to move it around safely. Also, inserting in the receiver and aligning the holes for the pin to secure it to the hitch is two person job. Did I mention it's HEAVY!? Once installed and the clamp tightened to prevent it from rattling in the receiver, the quality of the rack system is apparent. The KUAT system hauled our 4 bicycles with ease. However, lowering the rack down to open the tailgate of our SUV was a 2 person job. I would lift up on the rear of the rack, my daughter would push the release lever, and then I would carefully lower the rack. Be careful of your clothing when lowering and raising as the last bike will have the sprockets out which cost me a couple t-shirts. I'll also criticize the price point a bit...it's a really expensive system. But I bought it anyway and am glad I did. Having used the system now, I'd still recommend it despite the high cost. Security: the locking systems are convenient and easy to use. However, they will only deter "honest" or "lazy" thieves. A prepared thief will get your bike as we found out in Salt Lake City when the lock cable was cut on my daughters bike and stolen from the underground hotel parking ramp. It was suggested by an experienced biker friend that I should supplement the security with chains, but I didn't listen...I wish I would have. Fortunately we were able to buy a new bike at Scheels in Salt Lake, but it still sucks having a bike stolen. I'll now have to get another bike locking cable from KUAT and will report back on the service. Last note: it wasn't immediately clear to me when I ordered the bike what the sizes 1.25" and 2" meant. That the size of the receiver on your vehicle. I knew my vehicle was a 2", but I failed to consider that when I bought the add-on. The add-on kits are also sized in 1.25" and 2". I didn't catch this until they both showed up resulting in my having to return the 1.25" add-on and then reorder the 2". Just be sure of what you're ordering. I freely acknowledge this was my mistake and now realize my assumption that the add-on was universal...it's not.

I bought this for my truck with a 2" receiver hitch. The rack assembled well (although the instructions could use some improvement) and it looks great. Absolute rock solid when on the truck, no wobble at all. Bikes fit on it great and they lock in tight. Built in locks are ok, it took a while to get them adjusted to fit around my frame but got there eventually. Not light though, if you are smaller in stature or have some back concerns, you may need assistance mounting this. Worth it though.
