Great foot-step bin!!!! We have the full size one for our garbage that we got from Costco, so I was reallllly realllllly pissed I had to pay the same price for a shorter version of the one we had. But this fits the bill perfectly for our use case. Composting with paper grocery bags. Buy it. You won’t regret it! Well, unless you have the bad experience I did haha. Took 3 tries to even get one though!!! 1st was “delivered” — but was not (I was home when it was marked delivered and not a delivery van in sight what the heck). 2nd arrived and I quickly unpacked it to find it had an enormous dent on the side! For cryin’ out loud. 3rd one the box arrived extremely pummeled, so I was sure it was also dented, but … to my surprise, it wasn’t! This trash can is PERFECT for composting using standard paper bags you get from the grocery store. I love love love it. And now no more ravaging by our dog getting into the delicious smelling food scraps and no more bad smells for us humans! ... show more

    • It’s “only” a garbage can…

I have become one of “those” people. Someone who pays $100+ for a garbage can. A receptacle for trash. The place you put soon-to-be-smelly refuse until you put it in the outside garbage bin. Crazy, right? Well, maybe. But the soft close, the little lever to keep it open and the fact that it uses regular garbage bags (not fancy, brand-specific ones that aren’t too great to begin with) are all beginning to increase the intrinsic value of the smelly-waste container; enough to perhaps justify the cost. What moved me from liking it to loving it? Medium pizza boxes drop straight in the can. it’s the little things in life that can bring true happiness! The garbage can also has holes in it so when you first put the garbage bag in the can there’s no air trapped so there’s no “puff”. The holes have an even better purpose when you take the liner out of the can: there’s no suction, so the liner and the can are no longer besties that you have to fight to separate. Take my advice - become one of “those” people with a fancy garbage can!! ... show more

I was very hesitant to buy a stainless garbage can when reading the reviews, but after lots of research decided on this one. I requested Amazon packaging after reading about those who received dented units, which I'm happy about. The Amazon packaging was almost destroyed, but the product box was perfect. No dents! I also appreciate the bag replacement is easy and uses normal Sam's Club 13-gallon bags with a drawstring. So far so good! My wife loves the slow-closing lid. The lid opens almost all the way vertically and is a little taller than our other plastic can. The trash can comes fully assembled. Just pull out the insert (lift the black piece just below the lid and open it and it will click and stays open for you), put a bag in and you're ready to go. No more slamming closed a spring-operated lid. Although the price was triple what some others are, I feel this can is well-designed, looks better, and is worth the extra money. ... show more

Got this can to replace a SimpleHuman brand that creaked and moaned when brand new. Kohler was great for 6 months but my father dripped some polyurethane on the lid and it went unnoticed until dry. No big deal. Grabbed some Goof Off (I also have Goo Gone but this was closer). Well, it ruined the can. This is not a brushed stainless, but a painted, printed or stained surface. The Goof Off removed the painted coating and left behind a shiny, silver spot where the underneath bare metal is now exposed. I would have been better just leaving the polyurethane spot on it but instead turned it into a $150 mistake as this is my second one. The new one is replacing the one in the photo.....it was only 6 months old. Great can otherwise. ... show more

It's the only trash can that will fit in my tight space and it works as advertised. Only 4 stars because Kohler should offer trash bag that will fit this odd size trash can like another manufacturer. It was a good product if it wasn’t broken. I ordered replacement. If that one arrives in one piece I’ll keep it otherwise I would definitely return it. It’s not worth the money if it’s broken.
