Best jam or jelly pan ever

  • High Quality
Color: 9 Litre
This pan is awesome....I used it to make jellies for Christmas gifts and it made the process so easy. I have struggled in the past using straight sided pans for jellies that I gave up making them. Not any more! The pan is very well constructed of Stainless steel, substantial, but not too heavy for it's size. It has measurements on the inside that I found to be quite accurate. This is very helpful when making recipes that require precise measurement of fruit or vegetables. I was initially concerned because the price seemed on the low side...but was pleasantly surprised at the quality for this price point, it's as good or better quality than pans costing much more (I have some expensive cookware). This is my go to pan whenever I need to make jams or salsa's...anything I am planning to preserve that is a mixture and needs a heavy bottomed pan. The pour spout is nice for when you get to the last bit of your mixture and need to pour. No drips. Well done Kitchencraft! ... show more

  • Great pan with 1 massive flaw. Read on and look at the pics.
Color: 9 Litre
Wow, who would have guessed it. I LOVED this pan until I stumbled across it's massive flaw that makes it unusable for me considering the cost. Let's face it, $130 for a jam pan is not cheap. Everything about this pan makes it worth the price other than the obvious flaw that makes it worth nothing to me. If you cant use the pan for measuring how much fruit is in it via its awesome markings, what use is it ? If i wanted to measure everything twice, i would have just made jam in a regular pan. The reason i was willing to pay that price for a jam pan is the measurement markings. Well, as you can see, its wildly inaccurate. This is our first adventure into making jam and we are new to canning in general. The first batch of blackberry jam we made, we used the pan for our measurement of the crushed blackberries. That batch was a massive fail. We tried to remake that batch using the pan as our measuring device and again a failure. So, we chalked it up to us not knowing what we are doing and the fact that making jam is as much an art as it is a science. We had already bought a whole bunch of strawberries and we decided to have a go at it again. I measured out EXACTLY 6 cups of crushed strawberries. put them in the pan and noticed where the marking was inside the pan. OMG not even close. So i thought i must have made a mistake measuring. Nope... I measured out those 6 cups with 4 different measuring devices and each time it came up the same. So we ignored anything the pan said for measuring and cooked up a perfect batch of strawberry jam using all manual measurements with the pyrex cups. Don't get me wrong, this pan is wonderfully made and the fit / finish is perfect. The handles do not get hot no matter how hot you get the pan. It pours out great and has a nice thick / flat bottom. This would be the perfect jam pan if not for a HUGE flaw. I don't want to pay $130 for a pan with this flaw. I can use an enameled dutch oven to accomplish the same thing and just measure everything by hand. If you are on the fence about this pan and the measuring marks are what would seal the deal for you, I'd rethink the decision. Please look at the pics for the proof of it's flaw. It's going back to find a new home. EDIT : I had to reorder all the pictures so they were in order and easier to understand. I mixed them up the first time. ... show more

  • Study, well built pan
Color: 9 Litre
Sturdy, well built pan/pot. Used it several times over Thanksgiving holiday for a number of recipes, including making elderberry juice. Works great! Gets hot (it's metal) so use oven mitts or pot holders to hold the pan while pouring after it comes off the heat. Plan on making ghee next.

  • Excellent purchase
Color: 9 Litre
This review compares this pan to non-maslin pans, not to other maslin pans. I've been making jams and jellies for years with an assortment of other pots. My regular pots of various sizes had problems with boiling over. My stock pot was deep enough, but too narrow such that the steam was very uncomfortable while I was stirring. I have a large soup pot, but it is massive and requires two hands to move. I finally decided I deserved a dedicated jam/maslin pan, and this was the one I chose. I made strawberry jam last weekend and absolutely love it. There is almost no comparison. The wide top allows stirring without burning your hand with steam. The handle made it easy to move from the stove to the counter for putting into jars. I use a ladle instead of direct pouring, but I can see how the little folded spout would be useful. It's solidly built and appears to be good stainless material. The measuring lines aren't precise enough for actual measurements, but they give a good relative idea of quantity. My one gripe: The sandwiched heat-distribution layers only cover the bottom, and stop just short of the side. This works fine on my current electric stove (the heat stays on the bottom), but I see it causing a problem with hot spots after I switch to gas after a planned remodel. That hasn't happened yet, and may not, so still 5 stars. ... show more

  • Amazing pan
Color: 9 Litre
I was unsure about purchasing this pan because of the price, but it works so well I'm glad I did buy it. I have started canning again, and didn't have any correct heavy bottomed pan to cook in. This pan is beautiful, cleans up like a charm and is perfect for cooking your food before canning.
