Excellent product that is always worth the money. I waited for this to have a discount, saved up points from other transactions, and got a great deal. The metal is silver, strong, well made. The grinder works wonderful! Easy to install and use. Not a lot of noise, fits well as it's designed to, isn't bulky and looks wonderful attached to my machine. I’m really happy with this attachment for my KitchenAid mixer. It grinds meat fast and evenly, and it’s so much easier than doing it by hand or using a separate grinder. The pieces fit well and feel sturdy, and it cleans up pretty easily after use. I used it to make ground beef and sausage and it handled both really well. Spend more to get good quality. This is sturdy, easy to grind, and easy to clean. We had bought a cheaper one but it broke and was harder to grind. This worth the money for sure.

I was very skeptical of using a grinding attachment to process game meat instead of a dedicated "pro grade" grinder. I was shopping $300+ grinder models when a neighbor told me they just use the KitchenAid to process their game, and that it works fine. Wanting to save a bit of money, I gave theirs a try. Expecting a slow process, jams, and a grind (pun intended) of a clean-up, I got to work on a deer. Suffice to say, I was impressed enough that I immediately went out and got my own, and processed an elk. The thing chews through meat like butter. No issues whatsoever. I ground through about 25 pounds of meat just as quickly as I have on much larger, dedicated grinders. It was so fast I went ahead and ground all that meat again (yes, we're spoiled; double grind!). Cleanup was super easy, barely an inconvenience. I tossed the parts in warm water and they practically cleaned themselves. The parts are made without any tiny or deep nooks and crannies that you can't get a dish brush into, which I really appreciated. The grind plates cleaned up without a fuss. My only beef is that it isn't stainless steel. I'd definitely snag the aluminum one over the plastic one any day of the week, but there are some stainless knock-offs out there that cost half as much, and I personally know people that have used them without complaint. But I get paranoid about good fit and compatibility, and the reviews on the knock-offs reflect the variation you get for saving a buck: everything from works perfect to broke on the first use. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for peace of mind and not having to jump through return hoops, so there ya go. YMMV. It's not dishwasher safe, as most grinder attachments aren't (and I'm wary of those that claim to be), but I wouldn't wash it in the dishwasher if it were, anyway. Something with all those angles and nooks is best hand-washed, IMO. But again, you do you. Just not with this particular attachment. I can't speak to the durability over many uses as yet, but given the simplicity and construction of the parts, if I do my job and don't abuse it I see no reason why it won't do its job. ... show more

Love it. Excellent quality you expect from KitchenAid. It’s very easy to use and it’s easy to take apart and thoroughly clean. Added a photo for the folks complaining about having to hand wash a piece of aluminum machinery. It tells you in more than one place, including a giant sticker on the grinder, that this isn’t supposed to go in the dishwasher. It actually came with multiple discs for the grind size, a tamper stick to push meat through, a bristle brush, a sausage attachment and two easy to follow instruction books. It all came in a great box for storage. 100% worth the investment — I was able to buy 10 lbs of chicken breast (Costco, $29)and grind it into 10 one pound bags for the freezer for less than what it would’ve cost to purchase one prepackaged pound of ground chicken. It will pay for itself in savings in no time! ... show more
