After reading some of the reviews, I have some hesitations, but not sure what these people were talking about. It looks sharp on my kitchen counter, and we have had no issues with it. We purchased this to replace another brand of kettle. We had that one for quite a long time. One day the lid finally wouldn’t shut. The only way to fill it with water was to open the lid. So I really appreciate the design of this kettle. You can add water to it without even taking the lid off. We never take the lid off. I would recommend boiling water in it a couple of times, and disposing of that water before you use it for your coffee or tea. ... show more

I bought this for my partner for our anniversary and she adores it and uses it every day. It would have five stars if it hadn't almost had a meltdown because someone accidentally put something next to it, which happened to depress the tab which starts the unit boiling. Apparently, the automatic shut off doesn't work if the tab is held down! Luckily I heard it boiling for several minutes and asked who made tea water (nobody) and quickly figured out what happened and moved the offending item. Other than that, it's perfect. It boils insanely quick, has plenty of water for 3+ people to have tea together, and is a lovely color. Oh, and what initially appeared to be an obscenely short cord is actually longer, it's just coiled up underneath the base unit! ... show more
