Oh I don't need it as I have a hand grater. Pffffffffffft. Just get it. It makes grating cheese so easy. We primarily use it for cheddar and have used for mozzarella. With the mozzarella, it tends to collect inside the rotating housing after grating. Not an issue to me. Cheese will also collect in a thin 'slice' in between the grater drum and the housing when finished. Again, not an issue, just a little treat for me when done. I do use the bowl from the mixer as the grated food can come out in a wide ejection pattern and the bowl has a good diameter to catch the grated food. I also stack that bowl on top of another to get it closer to the outlet. I try not to get a lot of water in the rear of the housing and clean up with a 360-degree, round, bottle brush makes it simple. I am very happy and waited far too long to purchase. ... show more

This unit was purchased to replace the older style which had cracked at the attachment hub. The crack allowed the cutter blade to shift causing it to shred the plastic housing into the cheese. This new unit doesn't have that problem. The only drawback is the feeding tube. It is much smaller than the old version. But, I am still glad I purchased it. ... show more

This is such an great upgrade. I had the original set of shredders and slicers and this one is much easier to use and connects better. The housing on the old one was plastic and it broke and this one is much studier.
