  • Very Satisfied!
Color: Stove Top Grill
Very pleased with this product. Delivery was swift. Great product for the price. I received the grill today, took it out of the box, carefully read the simple instructions, washed and dried it in hot soapy water, rubbed the cooking surface with a little oil, filled the ring with water as directed, preheated the grill over MEDIUM heat, on my gas stove (it fit perfectly) and placed my marinated Korean boneless, skinless chicken thighs on the cooking surface. This grill heats up very quickly, and in no time I had absolutely juicy and delicious chicken thighs. My apartment only smelled of the delicious aroma of grilling Korean barbecued chicken thighs. This product actually GRILLS, rather than steams, with the fat running down into the liquid ring ( I like this healthy option), and the chicken had a nice char. I also basted it half way through cooking with fresh marinade. No smoke, no splatter, no mess, no smoke alarms going off in my apartment, no neighbors banging on the door. I didn't even turn on the exhaust fan. I washed the grill by hand, and cleanup was a snap!! Can't wait to try veggies and shrimp next. For some reviewers who had problems with smoking and splatter. Follow the instructions carefully. Do not cook on high heat -- you really don't need to, this grill gets plenty hot on medium. Fill the liquid ring with 1/2 cup of liquid. Do not place frozen food on hot grill, thaw first. If using marinade, drain the food and pat dry before placing on grill surface. Trim excess fat from meat and chicken. Maybe not the best option for huge thick slabs of meat, use your outdoor grill for that. If grilling burgers use lean ground meat. I think this grill works best with boneless cuts of meat and chicken. Pay attention, and do not over cook. Happy indoor grilling. Cheers! ... show more

  • Cooks just like a outdoor grill
Color: Stove Top Grill
The media could not be loaded. I got this because I recently moved to a new apartment and my new place has a closed in back/front porch. I like to grill out during the summer. I am unable to put a grill out on my porch. I am on the 2nd fl and dont want to have to be running up and down the stairs to bring stuff out. Unlike my last residence it was a open porch. So I was able to grill out on my porch. So, far I made a steak, hamburgers and made some ribs. All of it came out good and taste just like I cooked it on the grill. Now, to get that charcoal grill taste. If you haven't heard of liquid smoke... get it. It makes a big difference. It makes the food taste like it was cooked on a charcoal grill. I used Wright's Liquid Smoke Hickory. You can mix it in your marinade or rub it on your food before you cook it. I love this stove top grill. Now, for all the negative reviews on this grill. This is why I dont go by anyone reviews. I chance it for myself. Please read the instruction booklet that came with it. This is a smokeless stove top grill. You can use it on gas and electric stove. Read booklet for how to use it on both stoves. If you got the fire blazing up high it will smoke, so you will need to turn the fire down and it says that in the booklet. I also take the battery out of my smoke detector before I cook. The top is non stick but it also says to oil the grill top to prevent smoke and food from sticking to the grill top. So, there you have it. My personal review and use of this grill. It worked fine for me. I think with all the negative reviews, they may not know how to cook LOL and maybe thats why the grill didn't work for them. ... show more

  • Awesome for apartments, but had to go against guidelines to get good results
Color: Stove Top Grill
tl;dr This is good for the price, but you might need to break some of the instructions to make it work. Great option for apartments. This is a great option for apartment living to mix up your cooking methods. We got it with little expectations, because in the world of grilling and kitchen items, this is a fairly cheap expense. Our first experience was poor. We have a glass top stove, and we followed the minimal instructions that were provided. It took way too long to cook anything, and I could barely get the meat to a safe heat. There just wasnt enough indirect heat to cook anything. We know that if we had a different stove it would work better, but despite that handicap we expected more. We almost threw it away. But I gave it a second shot and broke the two big rules that they say to "NEVER" do. We cooked on a larger heating element and we cranked the heat up to max heat. I'm not sure what the concerns are, since the instructions provided no information explaining why we could not use high heat or a large element. But once we did those things we achieved that sizzle you expect to hear and our meat and veggies cooked at the speed youd expect from this product. It was still slower than a grill, but ultimately that worked to our favor, since the meat was tender and juicy. Tips from our experience: Add more water than the measly 1/2 cup recommended. You can pour it directly onto the aluminum and it will trickle into the reservoir without slowing down the cooking or taking it off the heat. By using a larger heating element you're going to see some of that water boiling, so just pay attention and add more water as needed. Also try not to move the grill around much while cooking. My best guess to some of the NEVERs imposed on this grill has to do with scratching your surface. Using tongs to lift food vertically will help with this. PROS: Easy to clean, smokeless, heats up quickly (when enough heat is applied) CONS: Instructions need more information. It's a simple tool, but you'll need some trial and error to get it right for you. Glass top stoves may find this too difficult to work with. I had to break all the rules for it to work as desired. ... show more
