Having bought the more expensive ice makers that have failed, we decided to get a less expensive one. There is a difference. It does produce ice but it seems to melt faster. Before installing we needed to call customer support about the drain pump. We were told it was gravity feed; we informed the woman that it had a drain pump and she said she would get back to us. Still waiting. We knew she wasn't going to call back when she didn't confirm our phone number. It has a plastic scoop and we have ordered a metal one. I owned one KitchenAid and Summit ice maker before. Both made loud noises when they ran. My Summit ice maker broke, so I purchased this Kismile ice maker a week ago, and it arrived as promised. It operates quietly compared to the others. Otherwise, it works the same. The interior parts, including the ice maker plate, look the same. It is almost like they use the same parts to make the machine, no matter which brand of ice maker they are. But there is a difference in the weight of the machine. First of all very well packaged. Easy to set up. Built in drain pump is added benefit. Control panel easy to understand. Removable ice container. Good looking unit. Installed in a bar where it is visible. Customer service is also very excellent when we had a question.

I have had this now for a few weeks. Once it was installed (a little difficult) it works very well. The tray is always fll with ice.

Works great making ice. Drains melted ice back into my sink drain. I turn it on a day ahead of hosting a party and put the first tub of ice in bags into my deep freezer, then make more ice during the event. What would make it better is if the ice maker was a freezer as well. Ice slowly starts melting as soon as it is made. Seems all under-counter ice makers are this way though. ... show more
