I am totally impressed with how much nicer these lights are than they look in the picture. My old lights broke and it took me forever to find something I liked that was actually corded. I wasnt too crazy about the lampshade at first but figured I would give it a try. Im so glad I did!! These look and feel like nice quality lamps. I bought the brushed nickel with the white lamp shade. First off the lamp shade is not all white. It has a grey criss/cross pattern in it that looks gorgeous when its lit. The arms are a little stiff at first (move them a little before you hang them) as they should be, but work great and are perfect in my case when I need more light over my laptop I can just pull it closer to me. It was super easy to install and I did it myself. To my surprise it uses a three way bulb which is awesome because I dont like the light too bright in the morning or late evening (I only recently discovered they sell 3 way bulbs that are LEDs which is all I use). I bought two of these and put them in my dining room on each side of the table with a large picture in between. It completely changes the look. I am very pleased with the overall quality of this product (Brushed-Nickel Fixture - 2-Pack). My installation is direct-wired so I did not use the included cords and covers. The wall/fixture cover plate easily conceals a standard nominal 2" x 4" old work or new work single-gang electrical outlet box. The provided mounting plate provides secure mounting to the outlet box and allows for adequate placement/orientation for leveling the fixture. (I did read some of the reviews that claimed that the wall/fixture cover plate did not fully-cover the outlet box and that the mounting plate did not align with the outlet box mounting screw holes, however, they may have used a different size outlet box other than a standard 2" x 4" nominal single-gang box.) If you use the outer-most circular mounting slots and place a standard #6-32 x 1" long wiring device machine mounting screw (same size screws that are provided with standard wiring devices such as receptacles/switches) in the outer slots, adjacent to the threaded studs provided for fixture cover plate mounting, that protrude from the mounting plate at the top and bottom of the plate - you will find that the screws will line-up perfectly with the single-gang box device/fixture mounting screw holes. If you are not familiar with basic residential electrical wiring/fixture installation then I suggest you consult with a friend/family member who is proficient along these lines or have the lighting fixtures professionally-installed. Also, you will need basic tools and a drill and correctly-sized drill bits for some applications - especially when mounting the lamps directly to a wall using the cords/plugs - so, yes the installation of these lamps does require some degree of mechanical/electrical basic installation/assembly prowess. As final notes, the shades and the shade mounting harps for the model/color fixture I ordered were of very good quality and the shade mounting stud at the top of the harp does provide for adjustment in leveling the shade by grasping the harp and using pliers to tilt the shade stud retainer as necessary. The 3-way switches provided on the units I received operate normally and I installed 40/60/100 Watt LED Soft White Lamp Bulbs. Lamps function very well and look great. I tried to get as close-up as I could on the shades to show that they are not flimsy at all. I don’t understand the reviewer, for example, who said the shades were like paper?!! Not the case at all. They are pretty typical shade density. Well-made. The company sent an email ahead of time with a pdf copy of the instructions and instructions on how to loosen the arm when we first took it out of the box. It’s relatively stiff because it has to be. You don’t want anything swinging away from you when you want to read. We purchased 3-way Daylight LED bulbs from Home Depot that are supposed to last 13 years. You may want more of a warm light than a reading light. The swing arms work really well. So much better to have wall mounted lamps rather than use up space on the night tables. According to my husband they were easy to mount once he went over the instructions a couple of times and looked at the mount. In other words, it wasn’t clear coming out of the box at first. He had to think about it. In the photos we taped up the spot where the headboard is getting attached to the wall. We had to really think about where the lamps would go in relation to the night tables and headboard. In the end we chose to center the lamps over the night tables, line the top of the rectangular panel to the top line of the headboard, and space them 1 1/2 inches away from each side of the headboard. They look nice and symmetrical. They are built well, including the shades. We are very happy with these elegant lamps. ... show more

Nice lamps if you are mechanically inclined and have additional screws. These lamps look great on the wall and work well for exactly what I needed them to. The directions wet somewhat lacking. They show how everything goes together but the screw situation was a challenge. The mounting plates have holes that are machined for one of the screws, but not the other type. Because I was screwing directly into the studs, I used the wood screws, but they were not long enough to go through the plate and the drywall into the studs, so I had to 1. Use my own screws. 2. Drill the holes larger so I could get them through the plate. Even if I were using the enclosed screws, I would still have to drill the holes larger in order to use them. If you have that ability, this might be the lights for you. They look great. They are a good price. You can use the enclosed wire covers or not. I opted for not, but they could make things sleek. They seem like they will work really well long term. I saw that they are designed to stay sturdy even when fully extended and I feel that is accurate having assembled them. I would buy them again, but if you need something with excellent step by step directions and don’t have extra screws to use, this might not be for you. ... show more
