I bought this after reading various recommendations that this makes a great brooder pen for new chicks. I was looking for something that would keep the chicks enclosed on all sides and the top yet easy to clean, and then easy to store once the chicks were old enough to go out into the coop. This has worked perfectly for the chicks that we have had for the past 5 weeks. There is plenty of room for the brooder plate, the feed and water, and various roosting bars, sticks, and other things for them to perch on. In another couple weeks when the chicks go out into the coop, I'll clean this out, let it air for a few days, then fold it back up to store for another year or two until our next batch of new chicks.

I've successfully moved 4 batches of chicks through this brooder, and it's held up quite nicely. My biggest batch in this brooder was 16 chicks, and they were in there until they were around 6-7 weeks old. This thing is big enough for them to have a food side, and a sleep/heat plate side. When they grew up and went off heat, I setup a roost bar on one end of the brooder, which they really liked. My only gripe is with the floor, and that's why I'm only giving 4 stars. The floor is supposed to be detachable, but I could not get the zipper to budge for me to remove it. It is completely seized up, which could be a defect, or it could be from their waterer leaking out. It's also a little more difficult to clean, as I can't remove the floor to spray it out, I have to try and clean it while it's attached and all setup.

They just want to peck at it more than the ground lol. The hardest part is getting it back in the case after folding it up, but it's too be expected. It's super easy to assemble, it basically assembles itself.

This works to contain chicks when you start to take them outside, because you can remove the bottom. I used it as a brooder for chicks after a few weeks. The zipper door flaps on either end of the top make it easy to replace feed, water, and bedding. The material is strong enough to survive a mini-dachshund’s flying leap onto it, and impervious to her attempts to chew & dig her way into it. Cleans easily; light weight & easy to store.

We initially purchased this portable chicken coop for our chickens while we were finished with the permanent one. It works well enough to simply hold them in a container. It is not sturdy enough in any way I believe for a mobile animal. If they want to push it, they can push it. It keeps then safe from any overhead predators but if something want to get in, it can easily puncture any part yo gain access. It is a mesh which is nice for the hot weather but of course it is not waterproof. We also used it for a new puppy when we were transporting him and though cute, he could literally roll away from us and unzip it. If you are really in need of something to temporarily house a pet or an animal, this works ok but I would not recommend using it as a longer term solution.

I will eventually use this for something so didn’t return it. However, others I looked at all had a removable bottom that zipped on and off. Not good for indoor use at all to contain baby chicks. Don’t know if will be worth hassle when taking them in and out to play while young and keep them from escaping during transport. If a rainy day comes I probably will cut and sew a bottom on it.
