This thing is quiet. Looks great installed. Control offers a convenient on/off in addition to the standard reverse/high/medium/low/light. This on/off allowed me to add another light to the same circuit, which I control via a remote switch when the Kichler's on/off switch is on. Purchased a 52 inch model. Pretty easy install fan looks great, quiet motor, only drawback might be the difference between a 3 and a 4 arm fan. I’m always running this on the highest speed so that might be the drawback of a 3 arm fan. But that’s just being particular. Very happy with his purchase

I'll be honest, I follow a handful of blogs and see Kichler products a lot. Really can't afford their non-sale price tag, so being able to receive this was a treat. On that, here's some notes on this fan to consider. Generally this brand will include everything you need except the mounting screws for your light box (to not provide something that cross threads for maximum strength). So when swapping fixtures make sure you keep those screws. Things that made install easier: They designed and included a tether. There's included hardware for Canadians to attach the tether to studs if it's required. Alternately, There's a hook on the mount plate for easier single install. If you've ever installed things over-the-head you know the difficulty with wiring things up. It's a two person operation. Do make sure you got a decent length of wire out of the ceiling. The tether hangs it almost 12-10" from the ceiling. The mount plate is a solid piece with minimal slots and a narrow hole. Only your required wire should fit in it. Lining up the mounting screws overhead with the plate was the trickiest part. The layout and how it's packed is logical, like you animated it's assembly. It's wired with the white, black, green and blue wires. It comes with a wall control receiver for older homes that still use b/w/copper so you can install without an electrician. We have that last scenario and the wall control almost didn't fit depth-wise and sets a little proud. I may go and replace our box later to give more room in it in the future. There's no remotes to lose. The wall control buttons do not glow, & are straight forward. The buttons feel spongy. If you hold the light on/off button it'll adjust it's brightness. There's a tactile slider on the bottom to fully turn it on/off with a memory. You can also find alternate plates to swap on this from Kichler as well. Gripe: Plastic blades are not smooth on the unseen side (shown on the pictures). This makes cleaning different. Sound. We've had a number of fans wired up here the last one was a little 20" round fan/light with a quiet DC motor fan. Before that, it was the swap in from the old place when we moved. It got dropped in that process so it had a low hummmmmm until it died. This has no hum to it. The fan on high does have some noise from the air and the uneven vaulted area adjacent. Light the LED light is moderately dimmable you can't get it very dim but it can fill a room with light that's not excessively blue or yellow in range. I couldn't easily see look up the lumens, color temp nor CRI. The hertz is lower so your peripheral vision may see a flashing we'll see how it lasts. Size/shape looks: This is a subjective, I like more straight clean lines. This is a little too modern/artful for me to be drawn to it. My husband has been pointing similar fans for years so is happy. The simple can of the base can seem a little bulky, but we are okay. If you install it in an 8 ft room, it is a little lower than many hugger fans so 6' people can reach the blades if not aware of their surroundings. It's not outwardly stated but this is a hugger style that cannot be hung. I doubt it would function well if Installed at an angle. I've had an item change on me in the far past. At purchase this was called "KICHLER 54 Inch Volos Fan (Brushed Nickel)" This is a new product, so it's description may adjust to suit the product over time. We love Kichler, we have several fan and light fixtures from them. This fan is made of a great quality, as we would expect from this brand. Installation was easy and the instructions were easy to follow. It's everything we would expect from this company. The only con we ran into was with the design, and we can't really fault the company as it's a style preference. The modern design, to us, looks a little cheaper in construction. It definitely isn't made cheaply, just the location of some seams around the blades, the material/opaqueness of the light cover and ceiling attachment just don't look as high end as we were hoping. Still a great fan, met our standards in every other regard, but for the price we expected a sleeker, higher end finish. ... show more

We have 8 ceiling fans in our home. This Kichler Volos was by far the worst. I'm sorry to have to report three issues with this fan. 1) The Volos moves little air--definitely not the advertised CFM (blade angle is inadequate). 2) It's absurdly noisy (by 6 months in, sleeping was impossible in the room). 3) Kichler refused to refund, or to replace this defective Volos with a different model. ... show more

I ordered this ceiling thinking that it would be a very high quality fan given it higher price point, however I don't think the higher price is worth it. The fan blades are plastic. The motor is a 3 speed motor and there isn't a separate remote. The fan is controlled from the switch box that is wired to the fan. The switch control does have the functions that you might expect on a remote, but I was surprised that the control was wall mounted and replaced the light switch. This isn't much information on the ordering page that tells you how the fan requires a wired wall control. The fan has a nice appearance, but I've ordered ceiling fans at half the cost that have an equally nice appearance. To me the quality of the fan is very good, but I have ordered fans that are half the cost and are equal in quality. I think the bottom line for me is that I'm disappointed because I thought I was ordering a higher quality and a better than average fan, but the product I received doesn't meet that expectation. ... show more
