1st, Smonet lock arrived, installed with ease & operational in minutes. Don't skip any steps especially,pg4-when connecting IC cable, located on right bottom corner(pic notes location with yellow highlighter) , L & R, designating which side hinges are on & input code, pg.6 so lock will operate, properly. After, a couple months, lock keypad stopped operating & reached out to support on their Smonet website. The rep. named Barry reached out, qualified it was defective, sent out a new lock & received the replacement in a couple of days. I understand products fail but my main concern, is how a company supports their customers after a sale & Smonet, positively did just that. I spent a lot of time researching and comparing features and the tradeoffs of each. Ultimately decided on longer battery life instead of wifi (not a rental but my own condo) but really wanted the convenience of fingerprint technology over what was probably the most secure (I am in a doorman building after all), the Schlage Camelot. It looked to me like the mfg private labels this model for several re-seller. Aside from the fact that there was more than one lock that looked identical, the manuals that came with the lock were totally generic. Lock came the next day and I had no trouble installing it. Directions were reasonably easy to follow and the lock went in with no problems. However, when installed it did not work properly. Some commands did not work at all and the lock would not stay locked and just opened itself after a few seconds. I called their customer service and got a message that their hours began at 9:00 PM Eastern. They apparently are somewhere in China. I hung up and set my alarm to call them that night at 9:30. Well, my phone rang at 8:45 and the person calling, a nice young lady named Marina asked me if I had called. (I had not left a message when I called but she took the initiative to reach out to me even without a message). I explained the problem and she spent perhaps a half hour troubleshooting the lock and came to the conclusion that it was defective and immediately authorized a replacement which came the next day. I installed it and the lock works flawlessly! Even my wife gets the door open every time with her thumbprint. One thing that helps is I entered several fingerprints all using my thumb and repeated the process for her. The extra prints recorded always gets us in the first time with one of them. The lock is great. Service is great and it works exactly like advertised. If remote access is not important to you. this lock is the way to go! ... show more

The directions were easy to follow and once everything was connected (I had a little trouble with the deadbolt hitting the strike plate correctly), it worked perfectly. I really like the auto lock feature that can be programmed. Be sure to read all the directions ahead of time including the FAQ section. I found two of my questions answered there. We've always had electronic locks for as long as I remember, I love the convenience of it and the fact that I can keep my keychain with minimum amount of keys in it. After doing much research, I finally settled for this one. At the beginning, it gave me a bit of a hard time, kept saying batteries were low after installing a brand new set of batteries. I almost returned it but decided to reach out to their EXCEPTIONAL customer service. I sent them a message and they called me back (unfortunately, I could not get to the phone at that moment). A few days later, they sent me an email with a possible fix. That didn't work. One more fix, make sure you recognize the position of the hinges on your door! Voila!! works like magic. I LOVE the fingerprint part of it, I don't think i've have to key in the numbers yet (make sure your finger is dry and free of lotion/oil). My last doorlock,there was a few seconds delay after entering the code . This lock opens it immediately! I and the rest of the family are all very pleased with it. Every time I have to open the door, I instinctively say "I love this lock" LOL. If your'e looking for a door lock, stop looking already, get this one. You will love it! ... show more

failed me when it rains. finger and fob key failed me. if I did not have the key on me, I would have been stuck out in the rain. Waiting for idk the lock to dry off and try again. btw when you fail to unlock an alarm will sound, thankfully it's not loud. love the auto lock and timer which I set to 10 secs, and I can hear it lock. ... show more

Tried other models with a lot of cool features that just didn't work very well and ran the battery down too fast. This one just works, put your thum on it and it unlocks or put in the code and it unlocks the door.
