When unit was received it was to replace the Kenmore previously ordered from Amazon. The unit came with the salt tower screwed in at a 30 degree angle instead of up and down. A drain hole? In the side of the tank unlike the Kenmore I have now (without a drain hole in the side. The shut off valve isn’t of the same type and the size of the hookup isn’t the same, not to mention that the water openings aren’t parallel. Very disappointed in the quality…won’t buy Kenmore again. ... show more

Pros: Came almost completely ready to install. Price seems good. Cons: Mine had no install instructions included. No hook up parts included. This was an exact replacement for me so it was very easy to install. I was able to use hook up parts off of the old unit and the plumbing was already there. The only thing not done on the new unit was the overflow drain line. I had to remove it from the old unit to put in the new one. If this has been a brand new install I would've had to but many parts separately. Because of this I only recommend if replacing in kind. ... show more

This hooked right up to the existing plumbing and was a direct replacement for the old 300 series. This one has a few updated features, but mechanically it is just the same. During shipping the internal fiberglass media tank shifted - I had to remove the top of the softener and reposition it correctly. It had some packing in the brine tank to prevent that - but it was not enough. No big deal for me - but could have been better packed. I recommend this if you want to replace an old 300 unit without changing the plumbing. ... show more

After 2 months, the soft water stopped. I ended up tearing the whole unit down to check for issues per the pro lists on line. Best info came from Culligan and a dealer in Canada on how to check for the reason. Kenmore was ZERO help!! Zero. Didn't matter whether it was old or brand new, the answer was always "we don't have nobody in your area to look at it. Sorry". Really? In New York? In any event, the drain line was kinked from the factory and these plastic chips from drilling holes was in the water with the salt and in the brine well inlet. Better make sure you are handy as you will need it with this unit. This is my last Kenmore. ... show more
