  • Acoustic-electric Ukulele with Teak/Mahogany Top

Description

Our Teak Tri-Top Ukulele Series is a striking addition to our line of affordable ukuleles. Made primarily of Teak—a tropical hardwood that has a very soft brown tone with tight, straight grain patterns and striping—the Tri-Top comes together with a triangular strip of mahogany that runs down the center providing a red or orange contrast against the brown. The stain is so natural it looks like the wood is fresh-cut f rom the tree. These ukes also feature a sharp, Florentine Cutaway and an active EQ with built-in tuner. Available in Concert and Tenor models. From the Manufacturer At Kala we like to use exotic woods that offer unique tonal and aesthetic qualities not always found in more common tonewoods. These instruments are endowed with unique and beautiful grain patterns that provide nuance and a distinct musical experience. Due to the nature of complex grain patterns almost every exotic wood ukulele has a certain level of variance in its appearance that makes each ukulele one of a kind.

  • Beautiful sounding uke at a great price!
I have had my Kala teak tri-top tenor ukelele for at least a year now. It sounds absolutely gorgeous, which makes me want to play it all the time. It almost sounds like a harp when I pluck the strings in the right spot over the neck. The electronics and tuner are a great addition, and the price is very fair for what you get. My only small complaint is that the frets are pretty sharp on the sides. At least they are sharper on the bottom side and more towards the higher end notes, so it's not really a problem for me. I know I can always file them down a little if needed (a fret file tool is only $5-$10) so it's a non issue but worth mentioning. I do highly recommend this ukelele. I love it so much! It's so satisfying and easy to play, and looks great too! Kala is the best! ... show more

  • Beautiful wood.
Bought it for my Grandson and he loves it! Liked the size and that you could plug it it. He's been playing for about 5 years so it's not his 1st instrument.

  • KALA has fallen down on the job
I have several KALA tenor and baritone ukuleles (including an Elite), and have always been pleased with their quality. This one seems to have slipped through their QA department. It arrived with dents and scuff marks an the neck near the heel, and has a nasty buzz at several frets on the first string. I'm guessing that someone clumsily tried to set the frets deeper, and in the process banged up the neck. If i hadn't set out the shipping boxes for the recyclers, I'd have returned it. ... show more

  • This is now my favorite easy to tune, helps with chording, LOVE IT!!!
Love the built in tuner. This works and sounds great..helps with knowing if you are playing chords correctly can quickly see if it is sharp or flat..My absolute favorite Ukulele out of seven. Wish the frets were not so sharp on the sides but love the side markings for giving you bearings on the neck. ... show more

  • It smells bad, the oils are permeable - get in to your system.
The smell is offensive. The smell or the oils get in to your skin, soon I can taste it in my mouth. Yick.

  • outstanding
I ordered the Kala cos I wanted quality at a reasonable price. I gotta say, this instrument exceeds all my expectations hands down. Absolutely delighted....more like love at first sight. Only thing slightly off, is the frets are a bit sharp, but a bit of attention with some sandpaper tomorrow and they'll be just fine. ... show more

  • Bad electronics
I liked the ukulele, but the electronics shot craps within the first ten days. I own two other Kala ukuleles, a concert and a baritone, and I love them both. I guess when you only pay $139 for a tenor ukulele w/electronics, there have to be shortcuts taken somewhere in manufacturing and perhaps the electronics was the weak leak. ... show more
