  • Safe, Adjustable, and Chick-Approved: The Perfect Brooder Plate!
Size: Small 8 X 13.5 X 8 Inches
The K&H Pet Products Thermo Chicken Brooder is an excellent choice for safely and effectively keeping chicks warm. I’ve been really impressed with how well it works and how thoughtfully designed it is. One of the standout features of this brooder plate is its safety. It provides consistent warmth without overheating, giving me peace of mind knowing that my chicks are cozy and safe. Unlike some other brooder plates I’ve tried, this one doesn’t get excessively hot, making it perfect even for the youngest and most delicate chicks. Another big plus is how easy it is to adjust. Whether I’m accommodating chicks of different sizes or tweaking the height as they grow, the process is super simple and hassle-free. This level of convenience makes a big difference during those busy brooder days! Handling and cleaning are also effortless. The design is user-friendly, making setup and adjustments quick and frustration-free. Cleaning is equally straightforward—the materials are easy to wipe down, which is so important when dealing with messy little chicks! Best of all, my chicks are very happy under this brooder plate. It’s clear they feel comfortable and secure, which makes this product an even better investment. Overall, this brooder plate strikes a great balance between functionality, safety, and ease of use. It’s durable, reliable, and perfect for any brooder setup. I highly recommend it to anyone raising chicks! ... show more

  • Works great and no fire hazard!
Size: Small 8 X 13.5 X 8 Inches
After seeing reviews that this product wouldn't be hot enough, I was initially a little wary. Then I received the heater. It's extremely easy to set up and once it's heated up after plugged in, the bottom of the plate feels slightly warm, but definitely hot enough to burn anything, which is fantastic! The point of heat sources like this is to simulate the warmth given by brooding hens, so it makes sense for the heat to be about body temperature. In addition to being slightly more natural than a traditional heat lamp, the chicks have a good way to get out of the bright LED light I have over their brooder and have a dark place to easily take a nap in. PROS: - Less of a fire hazard than heat lamps - Uses less electricity than most heat lamps - Not too hot to touch and handle - Simulates the natural warmth given by a brooding hen - Easily adjustable as the chicks grow CONS: - You may need to teach newly hatched chicks to go under the warmer at first. - Probably best used indoors with the air at least at room temperature. - It does need to be cleaned after awhile, but a simple wipe down with a damp rag works. Basically this product is great if you set up your chicks in a relatively warm environment (at least 70°F) since it's warm enough for the chicks to freely walk around and then return under the heater for a comfortable nap. ... show more

  • Perfect for beginners/backyard flocks and good enough for some peace of mind
Size: Small 8 X 13.5 X 8 Inches
Gave me peace of mind after a friend had a bulb fall in the brooder and incinerate the whole thing. Doesn't get up to 95°, my point and click thermometer reads it at a steady 75° on the second highest position, give or take a few degrees. No temp control but there is fate red light you cam see from the top to make sure it's on at all times. The slant feature is nice for the real little guys and the first week, the chicks slept in a little dog pile under it. By week 2, the australorps and leghorns were hopping up on it but my isa browns haven't yet. They spend a good bit of time under it but do come out so they seem to be warm enough even if not the textbook 95 degrees. I would use again without a doubt but if I had more than 6 or so chicks, or was going to be doing continuous hatching, I would buy another one or construct a more solid base for a lamp and go that route. Excellent for beginners and starting a flock. ... show more

  • Much Better than the Heat lamp we had. Hard to clean.
Size: Small 8 X 13.5 X 8 Inches
I saw this on some video's and came immediately to get one. I read reviews and I was worried. However it has worked out well for us. The heat from this item is gentle like a mother hen. The only thing I don't like is it gets dirty on top where the chicks get up on it. The poo dries hard on it. You can only sit it at an angle on the bottom level for the chicks. My chicks are a little over two weeks old. They hop up and sit on top of it. They perch on the stand sides to. I have a good sized brooder. We only have two chicks. I can't picture more than 10 under it and if they are as big as mine maybe 7-8 could pile under it??? We live in Florida. We had a heat lamp just in case it malfunctioned. If I didn't have this I'd be worried at night now because they would be flying up into that heat lamp. I'd buy the product again if I needed one. I guess buy two in case it stops working for some reason. A feature that would be nice would be an alarm if it stops heating but that I guess is a pipe dream. As anyone knows raising chick without a Momma Hen makes it more work. Buy and use it and if your like me probably have a back up of some sort in case you get one that is malfunctioning. I could not recommend this item for a "cold" climate because I live in Florida. Reality is pretty simple for us its hot here. In a couple weeks we won't even need it at all. For our purposes it was a great buy and is being used by my birds. We just clean off poo 3-4 times a day and also get it out of the brooder and wash it. If you let the poo saturate with water it will eventually wash off fairly well. We use a 5 gallon bucket and that helps us clean it fairly well with the soapy water in it. Item seems to be as described. We have had good luck in June of 2023 I am writing this review. ... show more
