  • Inexpensive Chiller
Size: 3W
I have a 29 gallon reef tank in my new phoenix AZ house and have watched the temps go up to 83 degrees this last month. I knew I would have to come up with a solution soon. The tank is a cheap Top Fin set up with an in-tank filter so it is essentially an AIO set up. As I knew a chiller was out of the question, and after reading up on chiller fans, I thought I would try this one. The Top Fin lid already had a small cut out in the back, so I did not have to cut too much out of it to get this to fit. So after 3 hours it was down to 78 degrees. Crazy, evaporative cooling works! And, only after I checked it in the early morning did I notice my heater was coming on as it was trying to maintain 78. What a dummy. So the temp now runs between 77.5 and 78.5. It works good. The evaporation is about . . . maybe a half gallon a day (we hit 110 degrees this week). Again, as this is an AIO setup, I just pour in fresh RO water every 3 days. I imagine when I go on vacation, I will need to add a temporary ATO set up on the counter to cover the water loss. The noise on it isn’t too bad. Our bedroom door is next to the tank and I can hear it cycle on occasionally during the evening. Not obnoxious, and after a few weeks I don’t really notice it. I think the noise concerns are totally subjective. It works and it was pretty inexpensive so I was willing to try it. This is a cheap solution to a big problem and I would recommend it. I honestly think I will buy a second one to keep on hand if this fails (based on some of the complaints??) ... show more

  • Fan works fine, but made for rimless tank, thermostat doesn’t work.
Size: 4W
Fan works and cools 75 gallon fish tank to below 65 in my unheated basement. Thermostat contacts mislabeled and in usable.

  • Worked great for my needs
Size: 4W
It is quiet and works well. Been using it for almost 8 months and it’s holding up great. It was easy to install and keeps the tank a few degrees cooler (which is what I wanted).

  • Worked for a few months Updated : company handled and repaced item
Size: 4W
While it worked did keep aqarium cool. Thermostat now not working after 4 months and units stays on in auto mode independent of temperature setting. In principle these devices work better than I expected but lifetime of this unit is lacking Update Company contacted and replaced control module. Problem was loose connection in thermocouple probe. ... show more

  • SURPRISINGLY EFFECTIVE
Size: 4W
The fan works surprisingly well tbh. I have an open top AIO 20 gallon and my tank would run 75-78 and I hooked up just the fan on the lowest settings and dropped it down to as low as 67. I didn’t even bother hooking up the temperature regulator since it was working so well. So far super happy with this product! ... show more

  • Poor Quality
Size: 4W
This started out as a good fan. The temp control took a little tweaking to get it set to where I needed it but once set it worked well. Noise wasn't bad, not loud but not quiet. After two months it would rattle when it would first start but would eventually quiet down. It eventually started rattling all the time, even after taking it off and making sure it was clean and nothing was loose. Too bad it's past the return time, I'm stuck with a fan I can't use. It works but it's way too loud and annoying and it's summer now so it runs most of the time ... show more

  • Not Good
Size: 4W
I have 3 fans to chill my 40 gallon tank water and this one is the least powerful by far. For sure it wouldn't be chilling my water all on it's own, you can barely feel air coming from it. I do like the design/style because it clips onto thick glass rim and is out of the way in the back, but it actually stopped working after 6 weeks of use. It now turns off by itself and when I try turning it back on, it kicks on, but the battery pack gets hot and smells like burning wires. I would not recommend this product. ... show more

  • It’s good but not for an Axolotl tank.
Size: 3W
This product is good. It keeps the tank at a consistent temperature. However, when I put the dial on 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius), it stays at 67.8 degrees Fahrenheit. I have a 10 gallon tank with a 5 inch Axolotl. I tried leaving the top on the aquarium and taking it off. I had the ceiling fan blowing in the room to help it out and no matter what I did it stayed at 67.8. The thing I did not do was put an ice bottle in the tank because that would defeat the purpose. I even went as far as turning down the air conditioner in our house with no results. If you own an Axolotl, you know the preferred temperature is 60-64 (otherwise they could get a fungus) which is between 16-18 degrees Celsius. I thought this would be an easy/cheap fix to the warm water issue because it says it goes to 18 degrees Celsius. I was wrong and broke down and bought a chiller. I will be sending the fan back. Although, it is good for some fish that prefer a temperature of 67 and above, it is definitely not for an Axolotl. ... show more
